Has anyone done this degree? I am considering it again. Its a long program, but I like the field. Thanks.
I know someone who did his Phd and is now a professor after dabbling in private practise for a little bit. I think you will be pretty good at it personally. Good pal of mine, very content and enjoys his work.
Someone else I know did her degree in psychology and is working as a counselor at some college, but I am not in touch with her now.
I've had enough of these psychologist and their stupied theory's they don't half make students life misery,,, hey then maybe u can help me with my coursework :)
sofina i am trying to understand what you wrote..
Fraudia wat i'm trying to say is that I hate psychology, I dread the day I enrolled, I don't know how one would wanna do phd in psychology, then again thats just my thoughts
are you doing a degree in psychology?
No i'm doing my Alevels I have made a application to couple of uni's to do BSc but i've changed my mind again,at this moment i'm very confused, don't know if i'm coming or going.
Sofina, its understandable that you dont know how anyone would want to do a PhD in this field, because you yourself dont like it. Thats quite normal, and even as a young student I also did not understand why some individuals pursued this field to the level they did.
When I did take psychology courses in university, I found them to be rather boring. I would skip class and only show up for the exams. But when I would skim pages to review the material just before the exam I used to take issue with some of the "theories", that you also mentioned. This is why I later gained an interest in this field. I disagree with a lot of the theories out there, and I feel I can make a contribution to this field, even if its limited. Therefore I may pursue it, or I may just choose something else. Allahu Alam.
However I would suggest that its best to encourage people in their pursuits, rather than discourage them. People can always use encouragement, even me. smile Thank you for posting, and shukria Fraudia unkle.
Muni I don't mean to discourage u, u go for it girl, overall Psychology is a good subject, u can learn alot, I don't mean to dis this subject, even though i've only done it for a year I have learnt alot, Good luck I hope your successfull in this field (my excuse I'm very emotional these days i'm having problem with my design for my research and my results day is very close)
Well there isn't much I can say about Pyschology besides I'm currently in my first year, and taking Pyschology.
Although it's a first year course, I am finding it very interesting and easy. I wouldn't mind taking a few more courses in pyschology, maybe to do a minor.
Munni, good choice for Clinical Pyschology. There is a lot of demand in that field. You may even start your own practice, or work with hospitals too.
Majority of my class is made up of females. Wierd...
Thank you Sofina. I know you werent dissing me or the subject. Like I said, everyones opinion is different. You have a right to yours, and I wish you success on whatever you may choose. Dont stress, your research project will turn out great, insha'Allah. smile
Peoples Champ, I'm not sure about the demand, but it is very interesting for me. I would do private practise if I completed it. Just the whole studying bit is making me wonder if I should pursue it. Indeed the psych field is infiltrated these days by women. Isnt it interesting that when you read many old psych books, you find that men are the most famous for their theories. grin
