Has anyone of you done Ph.D and if so, what was it about? Was it good? Waste of time?
Please share your experience, how did you get it? Which expectations did you have?

Thanks, Sweetmoi

Re: Ph.D

A few people on GS have completed their doctorates.
I completed mine a couple of months back in Information Systems ; Nescio completed his a couple of years back in a Health related discipline ; ravage, Lansing, and Jayzee are working towards theirs as well.

The experience will greatly differ among the people you talk to depending on the nature of the program, the type of research, and how and where they completed their studies. In general, a Ph.D. is quite a challenging undertaking because it involves a lot of patience and determination. You are required to work individually and independently, as well as in collaboration with your peers and colleagues. Additionally, you are questioned about your questions, assumptions, and approaches every step of the way, and you might have to undo-redo-relearn-revise-justify throughout the duration of your project and thesis/dissertation. If you can overcome these hurdles, the experience of performing research and making contributions to knowledge is very gratifying.

This is just a general response... if you have specific questions, please ask.
