Petroleum vs Electrical Engg. Help Me!!

Hello Everybody,
I have got admission to two places:

  1. Petroleum Engineering in UET Lahore
  2. Electrical Engineering at UET Peshawar
    I can’t decide which one to choose. Kindly help me. I have equal interest in bothof them.
    Hurry Up! As I have to give option in two days.

Depends on your own interest and preferences.

Personally I'd choose Option 1, because I'd prefer living in Lahore rather than in Peshawar. :D

Although the word Petroleum attract alot of people and then they go into it without looking at the other aspects.

The Petroleum Engineering in UET Lahore, is the recognized degree but its not all that counts. By doing Electrical Engineering at UET Peshawar, one has more options in the job market where are Petroleum Engineer will be some what retricted. Dont forget that by doing Electrical Engineering u still be able to join the petroleum industry.

One of friends is studying Pet-Engg at UET Lahore.I just recieved his mail.Here is what he thinks:
"u asked me for opting in beteen the two technologies . one thing should be cleared that both are best out of all.my suggestion is that if u think that u can compete u can work hard then do come to petroleum because here we have to compete for jobs which are few for pet -eng and once u get the job then it will nodoubt lift u from earth to sky at the same time there also exist the danger that u may not find the job ............and as for electrical is concerned there u will offcours get the job even if u dont clear any paper during all the four years but the codition of that job must be well known to u .dear junior this is what i think."
So what you guys think on his thoughts??

C&A Forum is to guide guppies. I dont know what sence does this make that just becuase there are many electrical engineers one should go for other option.

Projects and personal inclination is of great importance. If u think you have the potential from the very begining u can start preparing for a particular target. Lets say that since Petroleum Engineering was ur another option and u think u will want to give urself a chance by trying ur luck in Oil industry you should strat reading about the different aspects from now on.

For example one of very interesting aspect that may just click u is of wireline logging. Now we geologists are interested in the intrepertations of these well-logs. Where as an Electrical Engineer's perspective will be the development and maintainence of these tools for enhanced financial gains. Dont under estimate these logs. Schlumberger has hold its monoploy ever since these tools have come in market and very few companies have done as good as Schlumberger. All the tools they develop and use are done by Electrical Engineers.

Good Luck & Enjoy ur university life as positive as u can becuz very few in Pakistan has the privilage to study in a unversity.
