**Planning commission recommends
petrol subsidy cards for motorcyclists **
ISLAMABAD: There might be some good news for motorcyclists as the planning commission has recommended that a subsidy petrol card be provided to them.
The move comes as the prices of petroleum products are expected to rise due to an increase in the price of crude oil in the international market.
The recommendation by the planning commission was made during a meeting of the parliamentary committee discussing POL prices.

Seems to be a good move as a huge number of people use motorcycles in Pakistan and come from the lower and middle classes. I also hope if the recommendation becomes a law, it would be accompanied by a strong mechanism to check misuse of this facility.
Re: Petrol subsidy for motorcyclists
A three-fold increase in import tax on luxury cars and parts for those could finance the subsidy.
Hell, a small tax on each SMS joke forwarded could finance fuel as well!

Re: Petrol subsidy for motorcyclists
Other day I was talking to my friend and I ask him how much is petrol in Pakistan, and he told me Rs. 96 per liter . So we calculated
Gas in USA = $3.3 per gallon (approx)
1 gallon = 3.785 liter
1 liter = $ (3.3/3.785) = $0.87 = Rs 80 (approx)
Gas in Pakistan Rs. 96
Gas in America Rs. 80
Hence . . . America is cheaper than Pakistan :D

How about improving public transportation?
That's the best way to go. We are losing time as cities expand in an uncontrolled fashion with deployment of organized public transport becoming even more difficult every year.
