Dr. Afia Siddiqui and her three children ( Maryam, Ahmed and Suleman) was arrested by a Pakistani intelligence agency in early 2003 and has been missing since then. American and Pakistani intelligence agencies confirmed that she had been arrested in connection with Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization run by Osama Bin Laden. However, later both agencies denied that she had been arrested. Dr. Afia’s whereabouts remain unknown but it is suspected that she is being held in an American detention centre.

WE FEEL VERY SAD AND ASHAMED TOO, TO THINK ABOUT OUR SISTER DR. AFIA SIDDIQUI. I AM SURE THAT ALL MUSLIMS ARE WELL AWARE ABOUT THE ROLE OF OUR HEROES WHO PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN THE ISLAMIC HISTORY. WHILE THINKING ABOUT DR. AFIA, I AM RECALLLING ABOUT MOHAMMAD BIN QASEM AND MOATASEM BILLAH, WHO ARE SPECIALLY KNOWN TO SAVE THE SISTERS OF ISLAM. THERE IS ALSO SO CALLED MUSLIM, COMMANDO, GENERAL AND SO CALLED PRESIDENT OF ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN, WHO HANDED OVER THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS TO THE BEASTS. IT IS REALLY SHAMEFUL ON HIS PART. IT IS SAD TOO THAT ON OUR TV AND MEDIA THE HADITH OF RASULALLAH SAW IS QUOTED :
'THE MUSLIM IS THAT, WHO DOESN'T CRUEL TREATMENT TO HIS OR HER MUSLIM BROTHER OF SISTER AND DON'T HAND OVER TO THE CRUEL PEOPLE'

u.s. is a democracy and has a free judiciary. in addition the two mile line outside u.s. embassy in islamabad every morning is good indication that u.s. still continues to be land of opportunity for the best and brightest of pakistan.
if aafia siddiqui is innocent, she will be set free. if she is an al qaeeda member, she should get the punishment she deserves. al qaeeda has killed 1000s of pakistanis and yet i cant think of one al qaeeda member being persecuted by our judicial system. moreover plenty of innocent pakistanis continue to languish in pakistani jails without fair trials as a result of abuse of hudood ordinance and blasphemy laws. if pakistanis were serious about human rights, they should work to free people suffering from abuse in their own country.
