Plz don't throw tamaters at me but I've to say this,

Woolmer was a great sportsman, a very good coach. And we should surely name or dedicate somethign after him - so how about a Stand in any Stadium.

Naming the whole stadium after him would kinda throw some of our other great sports personalities out. It will be unfair. How about Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas etc etc - and all these people who are responsible for making our team a Good Brand Name (don't consider this last match).

So it would be most appropriate to name a stand after him or how about arrange a few matches etc. this year and name the trophy after him.

^ dunno about green top but I am all for giving that money to support Woolmer's Family till his sons start supporting themselves.. Later it can be used for any charity purposes.

Hmm im sure his familys pretty well off. The proceeds can be used for more deserving people at home here. Lekin yeh to khayaali pulao haiy.

Jazbaat aside did Woolmer mean more to Pakistan cricket then legends Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Zaheer Abbas, Hanid Mohammad, Abdul Hafeez Kardar, Majid Khan etc. Those guys did more for Pakistan cricket yet there is no stadium after their name.

Although Woomer's death was a very tragic and a sad incident, naming a stadium after him is a little over the top and I sincerely hope nothing like that happens otherwise we would be belittling our very own legends that did a hell of a lot more for Pakistan and cricket in general.

I would agree that a stand be named after him in a stadium but a whole stadium. :nono:

Woolmer had spent some time in Karachi in his childhood. He taught Pakistan team how to play free of Politics, Inzamam's later morphing into a dictator not withstanding. He is the one of the few recent coaches who enjoyed a stable career, and he DIED on the job. National Stadium doesn't really mean anything, I see no harm in dedicating it to him. We dedicate stands to playes as they retire anyway, i think we do need to go above and beyond the normal practice and show some appreciation for him.

How about building a new stadium in Gawadar - name it Woolmer Stadium ? But I think naming the stand is much better idea than naming the whole stadium.
