and then there are the people who think everything's a competition, the kind of people who are always secretly competing and you can SO tell but you couldn't care less for who "wins". i like to sit back and watch the poor souls gain some self-esteem.

It literally drives me up the wall. And capitals should only be used at the START of a sentence or when you are SHOUTING. Not because you think it looks pretty thrown in at random places.

Occasional usage can be cute, but frequently done grates on my nerves as well.

Its really annoying when you're talking to someone thinking they are listening but turns out they are texting someone from under the table! That is so rude. Or if you're talking to someone on the fone and they hangup without saying bye.
