Yes. Peshwa is a title of Persian origin. Shivaji tried to rename it to Pantpradhan but the original name was deeply entrenched.

“pesh” is a Farsi word:
pesh = ahead, fore, precede, aage, pahle … ALSO zimmah/responsibility
like:

pesh-kash = to bring forth an idea, tajveez
pesh-imaam = namaaz meN peshwaa = imaam
