Yup, especially the fanatics amongst the Pashtun community in Karachi who have killed thousands of mohajirs in recent decades, and those others who claim mohajirs are traitors.

Why were these people not talking such non-sense before May 12. If MQM kills people for being pathan or punjabi, it is bound to fuel equally racist views from other sides.

What shud happen is that government shud punish the culprits. The video footage of people with guns from both sides has been aired. Its not difficult to catch them. But ofcourse we can only wish.

Though I dont like violence but if violence can bring a permanent end to MQM atrocities and badmaashi in Karachi, I think there is no harm in doing that, as Govt Machinery is with them and they are ruthlessly using it against the other ethnicities.

Could it be that MQM was not responsible for all what happened? Could some outside force be involved in this issue, trying to create a rift between different communities? Please ponder over it.
The guilt of the MQM lies in shirking it responsibility... As the govt in Sindh, they were obligated to provide security for the CJ and opposition. They had no right to hold a seperate rally, and yet they did, knowing full well the consequences.
If the MQM wasnt part of the ruling coalition it would be different story, but in this case, the MQM lowered itself to petty politics for its own narrow ends.

They tried that in the past but it didnt work... The only real way to defeat those people is a grand alliance in Karachi of all the opposition. Take them out of power through democracy (if thats ever possible).
It would also help to appeal to the Mohajir community that doesnt support these people and to other MQM to leave their party...
Many Mohajirs are sick of the MQM, which is known to extort money from mohajirs across the city... Defending these people against MQM would be a good start.

Yes indeed! If opposition field single candidate for each constituency, MQM can be easily defeated. In 2002 they lost three NA seats - two in Karachi and one in Hyderabad. The voting turnover was only 25-30% then. People abstain from voting due to MQM rigging and coercion.
