Peshawar declared polio-free

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

^ then when they say "Peshawar is largest reservoir of polio", what does it refer to?

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

Not sure but I am assuming it means that there are enough infected people around to help transmit the disease to other people and places.

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

You think Sehat Ka Insaaf would have had some impact on the disease in the province? And how long will it take the city to get rid of the poliovirus completely?

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

Years. But our problem is just not FATA and KPK. Its all of Afghanistan and the amount of infected people that travel through Peshawar. Even if we make Pakistan polio free, we will easily have the afghan strain infect our people.

The disease spreads quickly and stays dormant for a substantial period. So you need a campaign every 2 or 3 months for a number of years.

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

Program was good but the minister was misleading .

WTO is world trade organization. Pakistan is a member, but what it has anything to do with polio, only God our PTI would know.

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

The article does mention that the polio drive is not 'finished' but will continue every month 2-3 days.

I think it was probably writer/journalist's mistake.

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

So it is not polio free actually , Am I right ?

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

Its not clear of "danger" caused by people coming in/out of Afghanistan/FATA.

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

I don't know kuch logon ko baal mein khaal nikaalney ki kya buri aadat hai !! Whether Peshawar is Polio-free or 80% cleared of the virus, it (the polio drive) is a step in the right direction and such steps should be appreciated by everyone.

Re: Peshawar declared polio-free

You are right , Program was good but the minister mislead , Polio is not a joke .
