Another round of Shia-Sunni Violence?

Pakistan attack kills 15 people

Troops have been on high alert ahead of a Shia religious festival
A bomb blast in Pakistan’s north-west city of Peshawar has killed at least 15 people - mostly policemen including two senior officers - officials say.
At least 30 others were injured by the explosion just before a Shia religious procession was to start.

It is not clear who carried out the attack in a crowded area of the city.

This is the second deadly blast in Pakistan in two days. On Friday, a suicide bomber blew himself up at an Islamabad hotel, also killing a guard.

Provincial police chief Sharif Virk said that the city police chief Malik Saab was among the dead, AP news agency reported.

I was shocked by a big explosion. I thought my eardrums had burst.

Security forces have been on high alert ahead of the annual Shia festival of Ashoura.

In recent years Sunni extremists have targeted Shias during this period, says the BBC’s Barbara Plett in Islamabad.

There have also been threats of retaliation following government strikes against militants in the nearby tribal areas.

‘In a bad way’

Most of the victims were police and municipal officials clearing the route for a Shia procession, officer Aziz Khan - who was on duty near the mosque - told AP.

"I was shocked by a big explosion. I thought my eardrums had burst. Then there were flames and the people were in panic.

“I remembered that there was a police contingent, so I went to see what had happened to my colleagues. Many were wounded in a bad way,” he said.

Peshawar Blows

Nearly 3:45 minutes ago a huge explosion was heard in Peshawar city. A suicide bomber blew himself up along with the top ranking officials in Peshawar police including CCPO peshawar Malik saad, SP peshawar city Razaq.
The explosion happened in the most crowded and well known area of peshawar city called "Qisa Khwani".
It was NOT AT ALL secetarian, rather targeted killings to get back at the government officials whom some people think are siding with USA.

I know malik saad's family he has got three teenage sons and one daughter. May shaheed Malik saad's soul rest in peace. His Nimaz-e-Jinaaza will be held 10 in the morning in kohat.

Re: Peshawar Blows

Through hearsay I heard...

Because of the Bajaur killings 1100 people in south waziristan have enlisted themselves as suicide bombers. AS they cant make their way to the west the have coined a new and lethal policy which is perfectly described by a famous pushto proverb.

"Da Dushman dost, tollo na loay Dushman de"
Translation......
"** An enemy's Friend is a worse enemy**"

Re: Peshawar Blows

this is further proof of arabization that has been going in fata.......sad rly

Re: Peshawar Blows

I dont care whether its the arabinization, talibinization, etc WHAT I CARE ABOUT is who is going to take the brunt of it all.....us, and our families.

PS: 4 hours ago I was in Peshawar city at a restaurant called "Salateen" to buy mutton tikkas.

Re: Peshawar Blows

my family just cancelled a trip to psh in the last minute... thoughts and prayers to all the peshawar-ites... pakora, u tried charsi's nimak gosht, its at nimak mandi...

Re: Peshawar Blows

nope I dont like namak mandi, and specifically "charsi" . first of all he takes 1.50 hours to make the karhai, if you dont stand on his head he will weigh more meat and cook less.

Salateen is better.
but this is not the forum for food.:)

Re: Bomb attack near Pakistan mosque

too many threads on this, requesting a merge

Re: Peshawar Blows

Khudai dhay ubakhee Saad was a good and honest man, sadly he was only recently appointed to his post. May Allah give strength to the families of all those who have died or are injuired.

Re: Peshawar Blows

I can’t belive any Pakistani would be so JAAHIL to do such a thing.

I bet it’s them Indians or Amreekans who are behind this and countless other such incidents..

Who cares about theological differences? You’d think at times like these we’d be united (politically if not theologically) when the whole world is out to get us, now they want to attack Iran to stop its nuclear problem yet they’re free to have them even though they’re the first/and the only ones to have used them to kill innocents.. ill shut up this is not the thread for this.

R.I.P :flower1:

Re: Peshawar Blows

People are so sick in the head these days...
RIP is right...

Re: Peshawar Blows

Most of those killed were police including to high ranking officers. There not certain whether the cops were a target or the Shia. If it was the Shia, then the security arrangement worked out, at the cost of innocent police officers.

Re: Peshawar Blows

For the information of those who belong to the other cities, Malik Saad, was as good a policeman as you could imagine.

He was popular in Peshawar, from a Taxi driver to the Government Officials all knew him very well. And in recent days he had been really active, 24 hours on the road.

The residents of the city of Peshawar are really disturbed by his such death,** I think he deserves form us to be remembered and honored.**

Re: Peshawar Blows

After seeing the "success" of sectarian violence someone is playing in Pakistan too, really sad. May Allah swt help the affected families and guide us and guide those planning on destroying anyone to right path, aameen.
