Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

Pervez Rasheed had called madrassahs as schools of ignorance, and as a result Mufti Naeem has called him a kafir. Whats your take on this?

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

There are two things which our nation is the best at:

  1. Calling someone Kaafir
  2. Calling someone traitor (or yahudi/indian/CIA agent etc etc)

So not surprised here either. But can someone give a little background of this Mufti Naeem? I dont know much about him

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

He is the head of Jamia Binooria in Karachi.

Mufti Naeem Lashes out Pervez Rasheed for Criticizing Islamic Madrassas & Making Fun of Islamic Books

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

PR is right. These madrassas and mullahs have brought nothing good to Pakistan except destruction.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

No one from the government is coming out in defense of Pervez Rasheed, it seems as if they agree with the assessments of Mufti.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

Parvez is jahil but calling someone kaffir like this based on one statement is too much.

:smack:

It was nice knowing you pervaiz rasheed.

Problem is this that when a mufti of high profile calls someone kafir, there are pseudo momins who make it their mission to kill him. Now just like Ghamidi and Junaid jamshed, either Pervaiz must flee the country, or he will meet the fate of Taseer.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

You can’t run away from ignorance…you have to fight back. Beside, he is totally right & that was totally unexpected from someone PR. He is a mild mannered and kind goofy guy, but has wisdom.

Religious groups protest information minister’s remarks - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: Religious groups belonging to the Deobandi school of thought on Saturday protested against Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed’s remarks about seminaries.

Addressing a national conference organised by the Pakistan Academy of Letters in Karachi on May 3, the minister described the seminaries as ‘centres of ignorance and illiteracy.’

Wafaqul Madaris Al Arabia, the board representing the seminaries belonging to the Deobandi school of thought, on Saturday held a protest outside the National Press Club here.

The protesters demanded the removal of the information minister besides the registration of cases against him.

The protesters said they would announce their future course of action against the minister after consultations with other religious groups.

The minister at the conference had asked academicians as well literary figures to play their role in promoting the culture of tolerance in the country.

But at the same time, he described the seminaries as the ‘universities of illiteracy’.

The minister had said: “These universities of ignorance, to whom we give donations and hides, are giving an ideology of hatred and conservativeness to the society.”

The remarks invited criticism from the religious elements, mainly belonging to the Deobandi school of thought.

Addressing the protest rally, Deputy General Secretary Wafaqul Madaris al Arabia Maulana Qazi Abdul Rasheed said the remarks by the federal minister had upset the whole nation.

The office-bearers of Wafaqul Madaris al-Arabia said they would initiate a campaign against the minister even if they have to delay the exams of the madrais affiliated with them.

Mufti Mohammad Naeem of Jamia Binoria, Karachi, said the minister was an ignorant person.

He said the term used for knowledge in the ‘Quran’ refers to the knowledge of Quran and Hadith only.

Similarly, the student wing of the proscribed Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) – the Muslim Students Organisation - in a statement said the statement by the information minister was a conspiracy against Islam and it had hurt the sentiments of Muslim youth of the country.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

Pervez Rasheed should have been careful in his words selection since he knows what has happened to people in the past. These muftis pounce on such opportunities to prove their own worth otherwise no one cares about them. I do feel sorry for Pervez Rasheed on this one despite his bad choice of words but i can’t even imagine how this Imranformation minister would have spread non stop propaganda had Imran said something similar.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

Very generalized. Why we gotta lump the entire religious establishment with the tiny minority of extremist elements?

In the same light, these so called ‘educated’ left wing politicians have brought nothing in the form of good governance, stability, or order in the system label them liberal fundamentalists.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

However, labeling someone a kafir is uncalled for and no matter which mufti or alim it is. It is just wrong.

This shall put the Minister of Disinformation on Imran Khan away for some time.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

Parvez is a Jahil for saying what everyone knows to be true?

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

It is a fact. Educated left is not sending out homicidal bombers. They come out of madrassas like the one mentioned above.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

This is the problem in Madarsa System of Pakistan. You criticize them, they will bark back in worst manner. Islam ki aesi ki tesi kardi… :nook: Mufti Naeem

I am going to take a 180 turn on this issue and ask the people who think that Pervez Rasheed’s statement is true, that what have they done to fix the situation, if indeed madrasahs are institutions of jahaalat.

These madrasaas in general, are totally funded by public money. When a student enters it, till 8 years later when he leaves - he lives, eats and gets stipend from the madrasaa. These madrasas don’t go out for active recruiting. Parents, who are poor, send the kids there, cause they can’t afford to raise the kids.

How much govt has spend on the welfare of such families and kids? Zero. So if govt never spent any money, then the govt should just shut up. Dont point towards the problem, if you can’t provide the solution.

Re: Pervez Rasheed is a kafir: Mufti Naeem

Not all of the madrasa’s do the above. Part of the problem is you have this gov’t minister making idiotic statements, while nothing is being done by gov’t to fix the divide.
