Re: Pervaiz Musharraf To Work for American Think Tank-Breaking News
The man is criminal traitor & should be in jail & not getting paid for his bs lectures. BTW, what kind of lectures will he be giving & who is going to pay ex military dictator for his lectures?
Re: Pervaiz Musharraf To Work for American Think Tank-Breaking News
Yes, I am sure they can use him to get all the information they want about Pakistan. What a douche bag this guy is turning out to be, first blaming the Pakistan Govt for the mumbai blasts and now this.
Overall it is a good thing see ex-presidents who become professors, researchers, and think tank participants.
Wish it was a Pakistani think tank though. But that is OK. May be we all need to learn how to run a think tank in the first place.
BTW **ex-presidents or ex-leaders **are the most precious commodity for any society. They have the experience, knowledge and above all wisdom to provide guidance. Especially if they have not become religious fundoos.
Third world countries do not have a tradition of keeping retired leaders. Unfortunately in the tribal thinking, either you are a leader or you are a dead-leader. There is no concept of ex-leaders.
Look at India, Pakistan, and BDesh. They are all stuck with "leaders-for-life". One Gandhi dies and the next one takes over. One Bhutto passes away and another takes over. No retired Gandhi, and no retired Bhutto. Sad isn't it?
Re: Pervaiz Musharraf To Work for American Think Tank-Breaking News
^ Oh yes, perhaps we could make our top scientist a part of this think tank too right? I mean if the ex-COAS can be one, I see no problems with putting one of his employees in the same board.

Why are you so sensitive about this. Don't you know that many of are scientists including AQK are the product of Western think tanks and labs?
Don't you know that many of our generals attend professional courses in the Western academies?
Calm down guy if you want Pakistani leadership to be educated and not turn out to be pathetic losers like that cave-dwelling, donkey-riding general called Mullah Omar.
May be the West-Settled Pakistanis should spend time in the Western labs and think tanks instead of wasting away their life in moribund madrassahs.
p.s. Mods the word "moribund" is a legal English word and not a personal attack.
Re: Pervaiz Musharraf To Work for American Think Tank-Breaking News
No need to write paras youre the one whose losing his calm… all I wrote was simple, if you’re ok with the country’s COAS working for a foreign think tank, you should be ok for the country’s top scientist working for them too
Re: Pervaiz Musharraf To Work for American Think Tank-Breaking News
Giving a lecture here and there is one thing and being a part of a think tank who's objectives may not be in line with national security is totally another.
Burqa, can you site any single example where an ex-head of state or COAS has become part of a think tank

COAS and army commanders are little leaders compared to Prime Ministers. At this very moment ex-UK PM is working as a professor and a thinker in the USA. I thought you all knew about it.
Civilized nations treat this process as a normal where ex-leaders move on to work for corporations, think tanks, and universities.
However tribals groups do not have such traditions. May be that's why some of you are having difficulty understanding this concept.
FYI, in case of Pakistan, most of our scientists are trained and developed in the West. From Jinnah to Abdul Salam, from Allama Iqbal to Zialul Haq were all "groomed", trained, and developed by the Western think tanks, labs, and universities.
So anyone making a big deal out of it is just being ignorant at the minimum.
Re: Pervaiz Musharraf To Work for American Think Tank-Breaking News
^ I was positive that example of ex-UK PM will come up, but UK and US are close allies, thats not the case with US and Pakistan. US has very close relations with a country that is very hostile ot Pakistan that is India. We ofcourse will not have any problem if people learn something from West and comeback here to contribute, but being in a sensitive post in Pakistan and then working for another country is totally differnt.
Not that i think it will make any difference, coz afterall he can tell US whatever he wants even without being part of think-tank but it does seem odd.
Re: Pervaiz Musharraf To Work for American Think Tank-Breaking News
If the money is right, he will start delivering lectures and work for Indian think tanks too, in the name of enlightened moderation and friendship, just like his comrade and close friend who was paid to denounce the creation of Pakistan as the biggest blunder in the history of mankind.
.... but UK and US are close allies, thats not the case with US and Pakistan. ...
hahah. So now we are using a futta to measure how close US and country-X is before we allow someone work in the USA. Man this the hight of selective hatred.
Funny that most of the posters (not sure if you still are in Sialkot), work, breed, and serve the West. But heavens would fall if Musharraf or anyone else does what you all are already doing.
Doesn't matter if you work as a cabbie, or at 7-11,or a doctor, you still serve the west and the US of A. If something is so sweat of a lollypop for you that you are willing to suck on it for the rest of your life, how can you then be so defensive about others. Are you worried a competition for the lollypop?

How dare you talk about this about the Bhuttos and the Gandhis. They are the pharaohs of South Asia with a god-given birthright to rule. Cruel as it may seem, we the people may need something like French revolution to clean up this mess.

Maafi day dain hajoor. Galti hoee.
On a serious note, French revolution is an easy thing to say but a lot harder to do. Most of the changes in the society are evolutionary. Very few revolutionary stuff stays. The reason is that we are all creatures of habit. And our very habits result is what we have in our society from the very bottom to the very top.
So educate others and become aware yourself. Then hopefully bit by bit, things will get better.
Alhamdulilallah. Good to see educated Pakistanis becoming part of a think tank. May god bless former President Great Pervez Musharaf, the greatest Pakistani leader since Quaid-e-Azam. May he have all the success as part of the think tank, and may many more educated Pakistanis join him and other think tanks, rather than having their education and experience wasted. Ameen.
