Dear fellow guppies,
I need to know some general info about the city of Perth, Western Australia. I got admission into Bachelor of Commerce programme in Curtin University and have already applied for Aus. visa.
InshAllah, with everything going well, I hope to be there by early July. I want to know the general info about the city, transportation system, accomodation, finding roommates(Pakistanis ofcourse) and part time job availability.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any info regarding Curtin’s Business school will be greatly appreciated as well.
Thanks and looking forward to some responses.

Take it from some one who has gone where you have not gone before! (opp of star trek)
Don't limit yourself to Paki boys. Keep an open mind. Find room mates that are responsible and honest.
You will learn a lot more about the real australia if you live with an "out of the box" approach.
And this does not mean partying and drinking to learn about the country.
Find your local mosque, and then get a room mate by networking over there. They could be any nationality. If you are able to find a local converted muslim as a room mate. You will enjoy your time much more and will learn a lot more. Education is not just the degree.
Many of us have lived in the west and came here as students so what I am saying is based on reality.
Best of Luck and May Allah SWT guide you!
Re: PERTH
Coolguy, LBG & Antamul Alona!!
Firstly, thanks very much for your nice insights. Antamul alona; I agree that I got to get out of the "box." I'm sure that you understand like anyone else that when someone is going into a foreign and completely anonymous land, one tends to look to his fellow ex-pats for guidance. But I def. like your idea that roommates should be honest and responsible and honestly, I want a Muslim roommate more than a Pakistani roommate.
Anyhow, only thing that I know about Perth is so far all internet research and through university's website. But inshAllah, Allah will make ways and everything will work out.
Anyhow, just wanted to have an idea if you could. How is the reputation of the Business school of Curtin and Australian education generally?
Thanks,
Umer
