Personalities & Patience

Some ppl can be so cool and calm almost all of the times, they take time for everything they do - To understand, every step is calculated and well planned. Even when they’re mad they’re calm and composed.

And then there are ppl like :o I walk on my toes, can hardly sit on my chair and can’t wait for others to finish their sentence, that is when I get what I believe is a brilliant idea. I once went to a PM course, one part of it was to deal with personalities, we used DISC model. It’s really simple and I was so surprised to see my type :o I’m a high ‘D’, though ppl I know would at first think I’m a ‘C’. The biggest minuses about being in this category is that I can’t listen to repetitive discussions, or when something is explained with to many words, I don’t listen to more than 1/4 of the entire convo, still I understand the message (my way). This causes problems when I attend face-to-face meeting, I have to struggle to keep myself awake and concentrated. I also have hard time appreciating a convo, when three or more attendees say exact same thing with different sentences, and each one of them insists on being right. This also means that high D’s can usually not get along with high or even low ‘I’.

It’s an interesting model, you guys should check it. It helps you identify personalities and if you know your own category, you’ll know how to convey your message to get certain type of reaction :o

Khair theories aside, I was talking about this patience thingy. I’m quite satisfied with belonging to my category, but still I’d like to have a little more patience. If something is repeated five times, I should at least listen three times before blocking. And I should have a default delay of say five minutes before I react on something I find utterly pathetic. In other words, I want more of ‘C’ qualities. There must be a way to learn to stay calm, apart from yoga, I don’t have patience for that.

Re: Personalities & Patience

Interesting.

I have seen several sites that analyze how we work, think and learn. Here is another

However I think patience comes with maturity and when you find peace within yourself. It helps if you learn that others have reasons for what they are saying. If you can find a way to condense your thoughts into a few lines then others will be more attentive when you speak.

Re: Personalities & Patience

What the is the central thesis of your post?

Re: Personalities & Patience

Sabah, you should try active listening technique. It has helped me (I think it did, I hope it has) :)
