How much personal information do you share on GS with guppies or generally in profile? I bet its almost 50% less as to what you share on Zuckerberg’s site and other platforms.
I would like to know reasons different people have.
Are you generally uncomfortable sharing information online? (as in real life you also wont share much with a stranger)
Do you trust privacy settings on other websites more as compared to gs?
Do you treat all platforms equally or think there are more weirdo desis here as compared to other places?
Any other reasons you can think of? (or actually dont wanna share that either :p)
It would have been interesting to make a poll out of it. hmmmmm

I dont share too much personal info cos - i like my privacy, i wouldnt post pics of myself cos i wouldnt want any weirdos posting them elsewhere and i also alwaysh have this thing at the back of my mind that people from my past (who im not friends with anymore etc) or some of my crazy relatives might recognise me from my personal info, i like to try and keep things like GS seperate from my real life. Hope that makes sense.

I would tend to share just a little more on FB than GS for a couple of reasons:
because I know that the majority of people who would be viewing my profile would be people I know anyway.
there are more specific fields on the FB profile page, whereas the profile page doesn't have as many specific fields. For instance, on the GS profile page, there's only a field where I can enter my occupation. On FB, I can enter the name of the employer, and I can even enter what schools I went to and the graduation year. So I'm not going to have to think long of what to put in those fields, there's only one answer. On the other hand, when it comes to biography, I would have to figure out what exactly I would want to say.
Even then, on FB I don't put much of my personal information in my profile because most people who know me would know anyway and I don't need to share much info with people I don't know. I use it mostly for sharing news/links and every now and then to contact someone via PMs.

People know a tonne of info about me on GS because I don't really care, I am not a very private person. But I have been careful to respect the privacy of my family members and I've disclosed very few details about them only in private blogs or PMs.
To answer your questions, yes I am quite comfortable on GS and I trust the privacy settings. I can't comment on other websites/forums since I don't visit any other sites apart from GS.

I do not know what harm it brings if personal datas are revealed(my personal opionion only).Many here are my friends and many know my Contact number.They know my name and a few of them are very close to me.There is no harm and there is no problem in that.Moreover there is nothing detremental in being honest and transparent.
I am registered with FB and Orkut but I never use them actively.

I would be comfortable sharing my personal details if i know somebody well but not with everybody for sure. Why would i do that? because i guess i am honest individual or may be i would like to think so.
