Shame. Shame. Shame.

Now it seems members of the poor Ahmadiyya minority community can’t even celebrate Eid without, in this case, being harassed by the police no less, and that too in Lahore, the “cultural capital” of Pakistan. Is the Pakistani police supposed to look after law and order or are they there to further exacerbate the plight of minorities?

Where is the outrage from the conspiracy theorists and all those shameless begaiyrats twice thrice Malala’s age who just recently took inordinate pleasure demonizing a 16-year old girl? Not even a squeak of condemnation moreover from all the custodians of ‘religion of peace.’ Doesn’t this harassment of minorities in their lovely “land of the pure” hurt their inflated egos and should be a cause of concern for them too?

Of course, the persecution of Ahmedis is constitutionally enshrined and a decades-long practice in Pakistan. And the deafening silence that follows each new appalling incident of harassment that comes to fore is hardly a new phenomenon either. In recent months, for example, Ahmedis got issued separate voting lists. Their graves got vandalized. Their minarets got demolished with the police’s blessings. But of course no condemnation. No Supreme Court’s ‘Suo Motos.’ Not even a thread or two with a couple of lines of half-hearted condemnation…

Sad indeed. From what I have read, Mr. Jinnah envisaged a progressive Pakistan where all Pakistanis were supposed to have equal status irrespective of their faith or background. He would not have condoned the unwavering erosion of basic human rights in Pakistan.

poor community? tell that to their chanda collecting divine leader masroor ahmed siting in UK enjoying his rule. please stop crying for a community that wants to break pakistan as much as the apparent enemies.

it’s only persecution for the minority liberal party of pakistan who will do anything to remove islam from the country.. that claim is light as a feather coming from that lot.

yes jinnah had a vision but the pakistan awam are not langray loolay, they can make sound decisions for themselves. ahmedis = out of islam is one of those decisions you have to respect and live by!

don’t bring malala into this, she is a tool sold by her father against the country. she and father should be tried for treason!
