permanent visa for MIL?

My MIL is here in UK visiting for the second time. What is the process of getting her a permanent visa? Is it difficult or expensive? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

From my understanding it is pretty tough to get a permanent visa for parents/inlaws. Its not something I have looked into however the criteria is pretty strict. It needs to proven that they are totally dependent on their offspring in the UK, including financially. If there are any other children living in Pakistan (for instance)who are able to provide for and look after the parent the chance of getting a permanent visa are really low.
Another option you could do is get a 2 year visit visa then 5 year visit visa and then they can travel back and forth as they wish (unless they change the rules again(!))
I advice you look on immigrationboards.com there will be similar posts on there or at least someone better able to answer your question.
