Starting with me, I gifted my nanajee and his sister , my grand pupho , a heated blanket each .. and they simply love it .. they feel its really really helped them keep warm during cold days and helped them get rid of aches and pains in the body ...
I once gifted my parents a skype phone ... you know the skype wireless phone that doesnt need for them to turn on the computer ... that phone has genuinely been helpful coz they feel so comfortable using it ...

^ True that! I once gave my nani jaan a woolen cap and she went crazy for it because it kept her ears nice n warm. Gave my nana abu a tasbeeh and he used that one for years even though he had like tonnes of em lying around. Ages ago I bought my mum this little mug with a teddy bear in it for Mother's day. She still drinks her morning kahwa in that cup lol it says best mom in the world on it. :D They'll adore anything you give them.

I give my daddi a jar of honey from wherever I visit, cos she keeps one by her bedside table, by her chair in the living room and in her handbag. She never shares her honey though, it's very special to her. My uncle gets her pure honey from Saudi, well expensive, she hides that. She's such a G.

i once sent my dadaba a cane. He used it until the day he died.
I had bought my FIL a painting of a place where we all visited last year and had good memories of. He has on the wall next to his bed and looks at it often and thinks about the good times we had there. He told my husband that it was the best gift he ever had. :)
I'm also compiling all the old photos my FIL has on slides (from the 1960-1990s) onto a dvd. He loves looks at old photos and telling us stories of those times. It's a hassle settign up the slide projecter everytime he wants to do this, so next time we'll just pop in the dvd into the Blue Ray Player and enjoy! Goign to give him this on Father's day.

I think its not about gifts , its about what specific things fulfill their need , hence this thread to see if we can collect some ideas of things that can actually add value to their day to day life and make it easier for them , like for example Afshi’s cane and Picture idea , is brilliant … techonology is certainly an issue with elderly people and it saves them of the hassle if things are made easy for them .. perfect gift ..
I once gifted nana jee those small camping seats .. they are real light weight and small , easy to carry … when nanajee goes off for his daily walks he takes it along and where ever he gets tired he just opens it sits on it for a bit and carries on his foldable chair when he is good to go … he loves it and infact asked me to bring a few more for his best buddies who go along with him for a walk
