Re: Perfect color scheme

Great Thread :lifey:

My fav combination is light colored dresses with dark makeup shades … and light makeup with dark colored clothes … works nicely for me …

For example : if I am wearing light pink dress which had brown or yellow in the embroidery, I choose either brown or gold colored shades on the eyes … and simple lip gloss …

Then here’s some more interesting thing for you ,

Using the color wheel to apply your makeup

As you all know, the color Wheel is divided into primary, secondary and tertiary colors. Some color wheels have more shades of these included, some have less, but it’s all the same concept. For makeup I suggest the use of one such as this one:

In this particular Wheel there’s enough shades to play around with, but not too much as to confuse you. Here comes the fun part!

Example 1:
Using the color of your eyes as a starting point.
Let’s say your eyes are Brown, and you want to do your eyes using two colors. Brown falls into the orange category. In this case, you could pick a color immediately next to it (something in the yellow family, like gold, for example. Or, something in the red family, like a coppery red, or a burgundy. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be the EXACT color, just something along the lines of it). As a second color, pick something directly opposite from it on the Wheel (like an indigo shade, or a pale blue, or even a blue-violet) to complement it. This combination of colors is sure to bring out the color of your eyes!
Example 2:
You want to use a color (let’s say green, in this case) but you don’t know what to match it with.
Basically you would use the same strategy; either go up or down in the same line ( doing a monochomatic look with different shades of green), pick colors that are right next to it (blues or yellows, to harmonize) or go crazy and pick opposites! In this Wheel, opposite green are reds and purples.
Keep in mind that neutral colors (black,White, gray…) go with absolutely anything, so you can add these to the mix whenever you want.

Example 3:
You are wearing an outfit of a certain color, but don’t want to match your eyeshadow exactly to it.
Again, just choose either a harmonizing shade, or a complementary color.

Note:
See the color wheel at the following link coz I am unable to post it here.

Makeup Ideas for Blue Dresses

If you are wearing a blue dress, the right makeup will work with the color of your clothing. The color of your eyes, skin and dress can play a factor in how you should best apply your makeup. With a little personality and practice, you can properly apply your makeup in a way that will accentuate your blue clothing and highlight your best features. Shades of blues, browns and plums work best for blue dresses.
**
For the Eyes**
First, apply a layer of foundation to your skin to cover any blemishes or imperfections and even out your skin tone. Next, start with your eyes. Consider adding a layer of foundation to your lids as this will help your eye shadow stay in place. Starting from the inside corner of your eye, apply a layer of eye shadow up to the crease with an angled brush. If your dress is navy or a darker blue, consider eyeshadows in browns, golds or dark blue. If your dress is a lighter blue, consider using shadow in shades of pink, white or sky blue. Avoid using too close a shade, as this will give your makeup a costume look. Line the eyes with a navy blue, brown or black pencil liner. Black or brown liner looks best on women with blue or similarly light-colored eyes. Navy liner looks best on women with darker eyes. Finish with a layer of navy or black mascara to bring a boldness to your look.

For the Lips

For dresses that are a darker shade of blue, warm, deep reds or plums work best on your lips. For dresses that are powder blue, sky blue or a periwinkle, a pale pink or nude will look best. Start by drawing a liner pencil line around the edges of your lips to accentuate your lip shape. Then fill with a brush or directly with a tube of lipstick on the inside of your lips. Blend your liner with a brush. For a matte look, stop here. For a glossy look that will add shimmer, consider adding a clear layer of lip gloss to give your lips a shiny, kissable look.

Final Touches

Consider adding a splash of powder blush to the apples of your cheeks. Like with the rest of your makeup, a darker blue dress shade will work best with a more plum or rich blush shade. A lighter blue dress shade will work best with shades of pink or rose blush. To highlight the brow and inside corners of your eyes, apply a thin layer of shimmery nude or white powder. After completely applying your look, consider adding a layer of shimmery powder all over your face. This will give your face a healthy shine while holding your makeup in place. Use sparingly for a fresh look. If you do not want to use blue eye shadow, feel free to use rich browns or greens that will complement your dress color.
