All you guys are worried about people writing their degree - hehe - you will be shocked at the following situation in that case...
ok here's the story: It's all about the degree and accomplishments - some people choose to show off, others don't.
Well let's just say Mrs. XYZ's daughter was dating Mr. No-One for a long time close to 10 years. Everyone (All Aunties) knew about Mr. No-One and Everyone were happy because the daughter was happy. Mr. No-One was studying when he first met Mrs. XYZ's daughter, he was very young at the time (let's just say 17 or 18). Mrs. XYZ was very insecure all through that if this guy does not study then what? So she always looked for a better suitable match behind their back. However, she also made sure the guy studies and becomes someone who can be called a dr.
Fast forward 8 to 10 years, the guy turns out good, intelligent, caring, loving, respecting, etc. To top it off he did achieve a degree that does not practice medicine but it is within the field. So his degree name can be called Dr. No-One. The guy is very cool, and no attitude what so ever - about himself nor his degree, nor anything. He just does everything that's required of him as a gentleman. Aunties were happy with Mr. No-One's accomplishments, just like they were about their own sons. The only difference being their sons were successful in different fields and not medicine.
Now, all of a sudden, one day after the degree is received, Mrs. XYZ goes about telling everyone (all aunties) that they MUST call Mr. No-One with full respect and add the Dr. EACH time they call him or talk about him. Even if his name pops up in the conversation - Aunties who have seen this kid in diapers MUST now call him Dr. No-One, instead of just No-One which they had been calling all this time. (Aunties were friendly too with him and he was basically just like part of a family member for all).
Mrs. XYZ started telling everyone about how much proud she is for having her daughter find a Dr. She started taunting aunties that their sons did not accomplish much since they were not dr.'s. She started telling aunties that Dr. No-One is now making so and so amount and he will be making so and so amount in 5 years. She started telling aunties that her daughter was far better than all the aunties daughter because a doctor had chosen her daughter.
she went on and on and on
So it does make a hell of a difference to someone like Mrs. XYZ
