I did visit the country beforehand and is not much big of a difference then where I came from. Other then language and people.. plus I have other family living here as well other then my husband..
I came from NL to UK which is an hour flight.. Its just like going from London to Manchester..

Lol good luck with that
Re: People who moved abroad for marriage..
My husband did-I don't think he regrets it! I think it depends on what your expectations are. I made it clear I didn't have maids or drivers in the UK, I worked hard and lived a comfortable lifestyle.
I know of people who've moved over to the UK from other countries and have regretted it. My friends dad worked in a high position in a bank in Pakistan, and after moving to the UK worked in takeaways. He regrets it, his life standards are lower now then there were in Pakistan but at least he can show off about the status of being a 'british' when he visits Pakistan.

^Did ur husband spend time living here or visit much before he came to live in the UK?
Yeah, I have an Indian friend whose dad was a qualified accountant back there but ended up working as a security guard here.. Their sons pay the mortgage together cos the parents can't afford to :(
