People’s Power

[FONT=Times New Roman]People’s Power
[FONT=Times New Roman]We heard this term “People’s Power” thousands of times and we know very well how vital people’s power is in any movement or revolution in favor of the country. The glimpses of this power can be seen in 18th Feb, 2008 elections. People of Pakistan gathered on that day against dictatorship and its allied forces to throw them out of power. Mission Accomplished! But was it enough? The answer is NO.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Being together and unbiased citizens can make a lot of difference as they are one of the essential components of nationhood. Democratic republic can never prosper unless citizens are active participants in the process of governance by taking on responsibilities and discharging their duties. Realization of our citizenship duties is as important as comprehension of our rights. Islam confined us to live in isolation from others. It’s our duty as a Muslim to live for ourselves as well as for others and create a better living place.
[FONT=Times New Roman]What differentiate us from other beings is our ability to differentiate between right and wrong. As a Pakistani citizen, we have seen 60+ years of dictatorship, political/socio-economic corruption and terrorism. Now it’s the time when we should executes our duties regardless of considerations of personality, gender, race, ethnicity, language, and creed, in order to suppress most of the melancholy in today’s society.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Pakistan is in such a dire state that the country seems to be returning back to Stone Age; no electric, no water, no gas, flour crisis, price hike, law and order situation, nothing relates to the signs of modern era. We Pakistanis are facing all these problems right from the word go but never realized why we are being so deprived. No one touched the core issues to resurrect the problem. Maximum our leaders can think are of temporary and short term solutions but no one has courage to bring about the real change.
[FONT=Times New Roman]We have no one else to blame but ourselves for what our country’s situation is today. Allah granted us many chances to correct ourselves and elect right people to rule our country but, due to any reasons, we failed to do so. We elected people who time and again betrayed us and our homeland. People are completely dejected of rhetoric of traditional politicians. These so called politicians never deliver and abused the mandate, given to them by masses, time and again.
[FONT=Times New Roman]As a Pakistani I want to know why my country is so poor when it is full of natural resources. The wealth of any country is recognized by the amount of natural resources it has. My country has wealth of fertile agricultural land, salt mines, diamond, gold, bronze, coal, oil and natural gas. What is going on with all these resources? We know Pakistan is earning few dollars by selling these resources but who is getting benefit out of it; not common Pakistanis, for sure.
[FONT=Times New Roman]I come back to my point that I mentioned earlier “What differentiate us from other being is our ability to differentiate between right and wrong”; Today is the time when every Pakistani should stand up, as they stood up against dictatorship, and empower the hands that can bring JUSTICE. Every Pakistani wants to know who were the culprits of selling the steel mill at the cost of peanuts, who sold the crop of wheat from the “record production” leaving the poor striving for one Roti a day? Who sold our gold mines of reko deq for just 25% earnings? Who killed our brothers and sisters that were busy in memorizing and learning Quran and Hadith? Who attacked them with phosphorus bombs? BUT, we do not have any motivation, courage or intention to fight for our rights and knock the doors of LAW. We know no one will listen; instead we will be labeled as Terrorist or Extremist etc. etc.
[FONT=Times New Roman]When we know that we cannot find justice easily from bunch of self-centered, selfish and coward politicians and judges that leaves us just one option - empower the hands that can bring JUSTICE - The hands that are known for their integrity - the hands that never deviates from their principle stand to bring the change, rather revolution in the country - The hands that never got dirty with fraud and looting.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Fortunately, we do have some politicians who never compromised their integrity, never deviated from their principal stand, and always have shown and proven their love for the country. They are the people who, even being out of the government and power, delivered what the powered politician could not. Among these few politicians the most prominent figure is IMRAN KHAN. I joined PTI few months back but I am with it whole heartedly because I know what the manifesto of PTI is and I know who is heading and pursuing this manifesto.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Khan Sahib, most of us, after Allah (SWT), counting on you. May Allah give you strength and wisdom to lead us towards success. We take “supporting you and empowering your hands” as our duty. We will be there when we are needed. I urge my other fellow Pakistanis to stand by the truth and reject all those who betrayed us and our nation. Do not count on the leaders and parties who have been tested many times. Empower the Movement that revolves around, JUSTICE, HUMANITY and SELF ESTEEM.
