Re: People in ENGLAND can't say the word BALL - they say

"LL" is supposed to be a soft, almost silent sound when found at the end of a word. The language is called "English", so it''s only natural that the correct pronounciation is how English people say it.

Re: People in ENGLAND can't say the word BALL - they say

Re: People in ENGLAND can't say the word BALL - they say

It's only logical. If the correct way of pronouncing German is the way that German people say it, and the correct way of pronouncing Russian is the way Russian people say it, and the correct way of pronouncing Japanese is the way Japanese people say it..... then surely the correct way of pronouncing English is the way that English people say it.

Re: People in ENGLAND can’t say the word BALL - they say

Maddy you even admited it yourself after googling this one time. You even brought up a link. When the settlers first came to America, they had no influence on the language, therefore they were able to speak it with clarity, rather than how it had changed over the years in England.

‘twas a fresh new staaht for the ol’ English chaps.:cb:
