I am not defending anything. I am just stating what Quran says about Sahaba. Once Quran makes a statement about a group of people, individual acts with in that group does not matter anymore.
When Quran talks about Quom-e-Loot, do you think that there were no good people in that quom. There might be some but it does not matter and Allah sent the Azaab on all of them. Now if you start asking for the maghfirat of some individuals of the nation of Hazrat Loot or Hazrat Nooh because they were good according to your standards, would not you be committing a sin?
Simlairly, when Allah swt showed his pleasure with this elite group (companions of prophet) then our negative opinoin about their acts does not matter, in fact its a sin as you are passing a judgment against the judgment of Allah SWT.
