Say you bought something for $1.99. Do you take the remaining 1 cent or say “keep the change?”
Basically, how important is a penny to you?

very important.. i dont like the "keep the change" culture .. in the UK, we get returned every penny... I may keep it , or drop it into a charity box like Jafri said , is completely my choice .. but I like to take it back from the cashiers purely from principle perspective..

Every time I buy a burger meal, the price is always £2.99 but the guy NEVER gives me my penny back.
Imagine how much I would have now if I asked for them all back?
(also I just stick em in the sadka box so it doesn't break my heart too much)

If there is a charity box I'll put it in, otherwise I keep it and then put it in a charity box next time I see one.

Actually, it depends. Totally does.
Like lets imagine, Exodus has an Hijaban wife who chooses not to ask for the penny back.
What does Exodus do or what does the Hijaban wife expects of him to do?

But it does annoy me when the cashier doesn’t bother to return the change. I mean no matter if it is only say rs5, you still need to return it and let the person who owns the money decide if he/she wants to give it to you as a tip or whatever :halo: .

Um sometimes I let em keep it sometimes I don't....it really doesn't matter to me.

I really hate when the cashier doesn't automatically give pennies. It's my money, even that one penny.
Reason I started this thread was because I was sitting in a cafe and I heard the cashier say "you want your 7 cents back?" I was like WTH? Of course, anyone would want their 7 cents back, you idiot.
In 9th grade, our math teacher collected all the pennies she would have left over from her purchases in big jars in the classroom, to show us how much they could end up to be at the end of our school year. By the end, she had almost $700. Good for a small vacation for her and her husband. Kinda cool!

No one has ever asked if I want my change back - they always give it back with the receipt except at restaurants. Sometimes if I am in a hurry I just walk away.

I’ve always wondered about items with the .99 a the end. Like this ..whatever…is $19.99. Just round up and put 20 on the price tag. :sigh:
