penn station to JFK

How far is it from Penn Station to JFK airport? If you take a taxi, how much can you expect to pay for this ride? Can you take the train there? Is there a shuttle bus? Whats the easiest, simplest and cheapest way?
Thanks

Re: penn station to JFK

It's only 15 miles or but depending on traffic it can take a 45 min to an hour

Taxi will cost you about $35-40

There is a shuttle bus that takes $15 - $25 dollars depending on what type of service

There is also a bus that takes $12 but runs on the hour or so.

Re: penn station to JFK

I took the shuttle bus about 3 years ago from Penn Station to JFK and it cost me something aroudn $10.00.. it took about 30 mins to get there but I had no trouble except pushing two suitcases from the bus stop to the shuttle service area.. I wish they had porters there :$

Re: penn station to JFK

Thanks guys!

$35-40 is really reasonable for the taxi, I thought it was be at least $100! So if there is alot of traffic and the ride takes at least an hour, would the fare still be around that range?

GTG, the shuttle you took, do you remember what it was called or where you get it? Are there signs there to let you know

Re: penn station to JFK

no I am sorry I dont remember much except that it was outside the station.. there were signs posted for different airports so I walked over to the one for JFK, there was a man selling tickets with the shuttle service schedule.. I bought the ticket and within a few mins there was a shuttle ready to go with 2-3 people in it!

Re: penn station to JFK

frm Penn Station take the subway line "E" all the way to the last stop in Queens i.e. Jamaica, it's for 2.50$ then frm there take the Air train to JFK that's for 5$. That's the cheapest and will take you around an hour. The taxi will take the same time due 2 congestion in manhattan

Re: penn station to JFK

Ok.. I live there so I know.. lol

Option 1: Take E from Penn station.. MTA fair 2.50 .. get off at Sutphin Blvd. Take Air Train from Sutphin Blvd. Air Train fair is 5.00 dollars.

Option 2: take Far Rockaway bound A train from Penn Station. Get off at Howard Beach-JFK... Take Air Train from there

Option 3: Take LIRR to Jamaica Center. It is actually Sutphin Blvd. Get off there. Take Air Train to JFK

or of course you can take taxi.. lol.. its going to cost you umm I think about 40ish from penn station to jfk..

subway/airtrain will cost you $7.50 (subway 2.50 - airtrain 5.00)
