Pehle Aap....

Re: Pehle Aap....

There is this tradition in Batuwa Memons that they give property to their daughter in dowry. On one hand it serves the purpose of inheritance and on other hand women get empowerment in in-laws. But normally they don't live in joint families. It is believed that the dowry is given in accordance with the qualification and job of the groom. I used to my Batuwa Memon friends ' aaj kal kia rate chal raha hai tumhara' :D

Re: Pehle Aap....

Even in Jats, a good wedding with all dowry and function generally reaches 2-2.5 crore INR. Similarily, Babloos and can confirm that in Rayalseema Reddy's they gift gold in terms of Kgs:D. In Maharashtra it is called Hundi I suppose:)

Re: Pehle Aap…

In maharashtra they call it Hunda…

I know a malyali person who was working as aclerk and his wife brought 1kg gold in dowry…

In telangana muslims also give a handsome amount in dowry…

Re: Pehle Aap…

:hmmm: In Kiran Kher’s words: Dhanda to tum bhi karti ho.. beti bhi deti ho aur dahej bhi.. Neech gunn :teary2:

Re: Pehle Aap…

Dowry is just like any other concept with both positive and negative aspects while prostitution is entirely wrong. Most of the times parents give it voluntarily, most of the brides brings dowry as a gift from parents, I also got though Saas has fixed the limit:(. the 2-2.5 crore is average figure of marriage and mothers wants to boast about their daughter’s marriage as well:D

People like me had dreamt of such grand marriage, woh to ashiqui ne barbad kar diya:smack2:

Re: Pehle Aap....

being married to the person you love is a grand dream fulfilled itself...........:)

Re: Pehle Aap…

Hazaron khwahishen aisi ke her khwahish pe dum niklay :hinna:

Re: Pehle Aap…

Dil ko khush rakhne ko ye khayal accha hai:)

Indeed. Everytime I see my cousin’s marriage video and compare to mine, I feel so jealous:D,

Re: Pehle Aap…

Definitely NOT.
Infact the boys in my family complain that girls are given a preferential treatment:hehe: to which mamu and all reply ke tum logon ko saari umar jhailna hai…ye beychariyan tou apne apne ghar ki ho jaingi

Re: Pehle Aap…

Haanji, jaise apne apne ghar jaane ke baad inhe khaane ko nahi milega:D

Re: Pehle Aap…

Not all girls are so lucky to have such considerate Mama

Re: Pehle Aap…

no no…i wasnt talking abt khana peena…usmey sub equal he…i was talking about general preferential treatment…same ghalti pe larkon ko daant par jayegi aur larkiyon ko nahi …stuff like tht…oh and they listen to us more…when larkey want somehtign they get us girls to ask them :hehe:
specially eidi mai…we girls make them pay more eidi

not just mama..chacha’s too :hehe:

Re: Pehle Aap…

Daadi.Naani who generally have money in the house give more to boys, they do open partiality apart from giving money to them chupke chupke, other boys here can testify it
I am sure even in eidi, boys get most of the things chupke se from mother, dadi, nani:)

Re: Pehle Aap....

This discrimination is coming down but for generation before us it was harshest reality.....

I know how people used to discourage girls from going to school and colleges...........:(

Re: Pehle Aap…

Nopes…in my place…we are very close knit family…so everyone gets teh same Eidi…married oens have fixed amount…unmarried ones keep incrementing :hehe:
So guys let us girls set the eidi amount 'cuz we can get a higher amount out of chacha’s and mama’s :hehe:

dadi passed away when dad was a kid…so I had nani only…& with nani…i was her fav among all kids…be it boys or girls…so I’m one of those ppl who got preferential treatment:blush:

Re: Pehle Aap…
