Peeling boiled eggs

I normally add some salt in the water while boiling eggs .. it makes it easierfor the shell to come off but sometimes I still face issues with it … even peeling while the eggs are still hot ,doesnt help ..

Are there any other tips to do this smoothly and easily ? :konfused:

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

Once you crack the egg to get a starting point, roll it between your hands a few times; it will have a scaley-reptile look. Then peel away. I've noticed that the shell comes off easier and almost in one piece. I've also noticed that boiled eggs must be peeled quickly when hot - once they cool, parts of the egg come off too. Thanks for the salt tip.

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

I do that Mischievous .. but still it doesnt always work .. the egg does come off while taking the shell off ..

hence wondering if there are any other ways of dealing with this .. i dread egg peeling

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

i never have peeling issues if i have added salt during boiling. maybe you need to increase the quantity of salt. like two pinches or something.

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

As soon as eggs are done, leave em in very cold water for a couple of minutes, works amazingly each time

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

^ I do same as Pink'd Out. Never used salt or anything, just dunk them in cold water for a few mins. They are still hot inside.

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

^ I do that too. works for me as well.
I have tried the salt bit ... its hit n miss

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

I do this, except I slightly crack the eggs all around and throw them in cold water for a minute or two. Never have an issue.

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

excellent stuff , i am gonna try this cold water tip .. thanks ever so much guys ...

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

Here is a fail proof technique to easy peel hard boiled eggs.
When eggs are boiled throw the hot water and rattle them two three times in the cause pan. Add cold water and then peel. Egg shell will come off very easily.

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

  1. Put salt in water for boiling.
  2. give the cold shock to your boiled eggs , how ?
  3. In a pot or pan or whatever you like put some cold or tap water and add ice cubes to it to make it extremely cold. then take the eggs out of your boiling water and dip them in that cold water. It works like a charm. if you boil one dozen eggs , 2 or three will not be perfect therefore add some extra eggs to get the right count of perfectly boiled and peeled eggs. Those non perfect one you can use for egg salad or just eat them whatever way you fancy.

I read a whole lot of material on science of boiling and peeling eggs. We need perfectly boiled and peeled eggs for anda gravy or anday ka salan or for deviled eggs, hence I did that research.
The best advice I found here :
How to Make Deviled Eggs Step 1

I also ordered and use this gadget too achieve more perfection:

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

I usually boil the eggs, then as soon as they're boiled, i run the whole saucepan under cold water to make the eggs easier to handle. Then i grab a spoon and using the rounded side i crack the egg all over so the shell is all cracked and then i just peel it off. usually it all comes off in one go :) This is my fav job to do lol

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

^ I do exactly the same thing..

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

Logic dictates that if you make feshly boiled eggs sit in cold water for a while, not only that they would be easy to handle during peeling, they would be easy to peel also as the moisture between the egg and the inner part of shell would condense so the shell peels off easily.

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

Try adding vinegar to the water when boiling eggs then when they are done put them in cold water for a little while.

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

I was in Star Trek mood then :D

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

I noticed..... :D and I appreciated.

on a side note...I've got Noor watching Star Trek now......and she has taken a liking to Seven of Nine.
now she wants to know why Seven isn't in all the different versions.....

Re: Peeling boiled eggs

Seven of Nine was introduced in Voyager, and Voyager came after Original, Next Generation and Deep Space nine, that is why 7 of 9 was not in those versions.

'Enterprise' which though came after Voyager, was actually a prequel of the original series, that is why seven is not in it either.

In chronological order, Voyager is the last series of Star Trek
