What are your opinions on pedophilia? Is it a crime to be punished, or a disease to be treated?
I’ll give my opinion on this later, but a movie I watched on the subject recently really swayed my stance on it.

omg we were learning about necrophilia a few weeks ago in class and there’s one guy who asked with a straight face what was wrong with that? he actually said that he would like to be able to preserve his wife after she dies and be able to ahem ahem with her

I think we are taking it easy here. pedophilia is criminal. If there is something wrong in the mind, there is a cure and that cure is death. Nothing less.

A crime and a choice. Its not something they are forced to do. If its a disease its not a bacteria or a virus. We go to the genome discussion then its another can of worms.

Calling it a disease is justifying the crime.
And that is unacceptable by any society's standards.
It should be punished severely , those people should not be allowed anywhere near a child ever again as long as they live .

I actually do think its a disease - one for which there is no known cure. Not that this makes it in any way acceptable but those are the facts....if a person for some reason finds children to be sexually attractive, there is no known treatment plan to change that. Well, there is actually...
The ONLY effective "treatments" are to either castrate them or to put them behind bars. I agree with either method - whether their affliction is a disease or not.

This is a mental disease......one that has no cure. Therefore they need to be punished by either castration or imprisonment/confinement.

I recently watched a documentary with Louis Theroux on the BBC, which showed him visiting the Coalinga State Hospital in California which is a rehabilitation facility for peadophiles....i.e after serving their jail sentence they tried to reform and treat them and put them back into society... it was so creepy i was actually getting really angry and teary at the same time.... i love being a parent, but it pains me so much knowing this kind of stuff is out there :(
