as far as GS populace is concerned, its the same thing. where no one's ever known anyone who is openly homosexual, or a pedophile. homosexuals are evil people god kills with rocks from the heaven etc.

but in the real world, it all boils down to consent vs. coercion, and age of consent. which sadly enough for many, puts homosexuals in the category of acceptable and pedophiles amidst criminals.

If sexual attraction is natural, why can't pedophiles claim so as well?

I am not talking about legal, social or moral consequences. I am just curious about psychological reasoning where homosexuality is considered normal behavior (claiming homosexuals cannot help their orientation) and pedophilia is considered a deviant behavior (claiming it is not 'normal' to be sexually attracted towards children). How does one decide what type of sexual attraction is psychologically 'normal' and what type is not?

As far as I know, homosexuality does not involve deception/beguiling and exploitation of minds which are incapable of independent and abstract thought. And this has nothing to do with legal, social or moral consequences. It's about the way pedophiles think: they do not even care that the objects of their desire cannot yet exercise autonomy. I hope you find something abnormal about that.

Thn why make comparison with homosexuality unless you are suggesting that ALL pedophiles are homosexuals. Pedophilia can be compare to rape, not sexual orientation homo or hetero b/c of absent of consent in both cases.

I am not talking about the ‘other party’. Just saying that both homosexuals and pedophiles demonstrate ‘abnormal’ sexual orientation. Please refer to post #17 as well. I am just asking if a pedophile, assuming he/she has not yet acted according to his/her orientation and hence question of consent not arising, is considered psychologically abnormal person, why a homophile is not?

Historically Gay and Lesbian groups have supported NAMBLA which is an organization in North America that works for the abolishment of the age of consent so that men can prey on children for sexual needs.

Your question is good … The fact is that in the recent past homosexuality was considered a disease and people used to get treatment for it and some treatments worked.

All of this is being hidden these days … because of social norms changing things they can no longer call homophilia a disease like they can for pedophilia … the social norms have a hand in how laws are made and laws are making homosexual activity legal where before it was not.

The reason why it was made legal is based on the argument of “two consenting adults” - this is now the new definition of “married couple man and wife” … note there is no mention of gender in “two consenting adults” but there is a reference to age.

I don’t believe it will ever be accepted that peodophilia becomes classed as a lifestyle choice … for obvious reasons, but essentially my view is that homophilia is a disease just like peodophlia. Because an adult consents it does not rid the behaviour of it being unnatural. And it is unnatural thsoe who say it exists in nature try to defend the practice as though it is natural. However because a living being may do something that is possible it does not make it natural because of course if the only argument is that it is natural then eating your own babies, and peodophilia are natural as well. So you have a point!
