i read in another thread that pediasure improves and increases appetite. i want to give it a try for my two and half years kid coz she isnt a good eater at all. how do we use that? i read on the jar that it needs to be mixed in the water. can i replace water with milk? i would like to add it into her regular milk. she takes buffalo milk about 3-4 times in 24 hours.
havnt tried the powder version either but i agree with khatti i see no reason why it cant be mixed in milk ... infact if u look t their website ... they tell you it can be mixed in milk.
I have and am still using it for my daughter who is going through a poor eating phase ... i want to add that pediasure is NOT an appetite stimulant. it is a nutritional supplement and is not designed to replace proper meal but it is very filling ... so actually if over used it can act like an appetite suppressant and kids refusing to eat. So always best to offer meals first and reserve the supplement for end of the day ... after dinner/before bedtime.
lastly, use the one with fiber .... kids that eat poorly have a tendency to constipate ... the added fiber helps. look at the contents of powder shakes, its mostly protein ... so push fiber somehow and water too.
The powdered version of Pediasure is available in Pakistan as is Ensure. It's much cheaper to produce that way. Alas, here in the US, they sell only the liquid more expensive version. I tried it for my kids, didn't make much difference but then they are genetically that way, very skinny and don't eat much either unless it's their favorite food. You can ask the doctor for more tips and information as well.
