Pedestrian or vehicle frist culture

In a busy city of Karachi if you are walking on street and try to cross that, you will observer vehicle first culture , but situation in US is different. Pedestrian treated like king of street.

What is the reason of pedestrian first culture in US?

Re: Pedestrian or vehicle frist culture

In Pakistan they're probably not taught the rules of the road or road awareness, as opposed to the western world.

Re: Pedestrian or vehicle frist culture

In the west roads are not as crowded, especially in towns and contryside. Due to poor public transportation in smaller towns the cities barely have any pedestrians. Those driving gas guzzlers don't bother for the most part when a person enters a crosswalk. In 55 mph roads they don't bother slowing down a tad when overtaking those on bicycles - the environment types.

In desi countries roads r overcrowded with pedestrians. Especially in big cities. With not much of a "footpath". So clearly pedestrians should be king. That is is not the case is probably because most pedestrians are poorer than the shmuck behind the wheels.
