Spaldings are the offspring of a Green Peacock and a Black-
Shouldered India Blue Peahen, however any offspring of Green and Blue
parents are considered Spaldings. Spalding peafowl often have white
throat patches, and are more similar to the Green in carriage, voice, and
behavior. These peafowl were named after the late Mrs. Spalding of
California. Spaldings can come in almost all of the variation that the Blue
does, such as White Spalding or Pied Spalding, however they are usually
rarer and more expensive to purchase. Spaldings are not as susceptible to
the cold as Greens are, however heat should be provided in colder states.

Cameo peafowl are a light brown in color, and males’ train feathers have
no iridescence at all. Each year, when their new feathers first come in
the are a dark brown “chocolate” color, but the sun bleaches them and
by the end of the season they are a light “coffee milk” color. Cameos can
occur in both Blue and Spalding. The first cameo was produced by two
blackshouldered parents and it was born with a silver hue. A strange
characteristic is linked to cameos. It seems that blue females cannot
carry the cameo gene, however cameo hens can. If a male cameo is bred
to a female blue, the male chicks will be blue and the females will be
cameo. Cameos orginated in Maine, and first bred by Oscar Mulloy.
Sherman Cram, Dennis Cook, and Norman Waycott helped perfect the
mutation. They were orginally refered to as Silver

Oatens are the equivalent of Black-Shouldered Cameos. Males are the basically
the same color as cameos, but they have black shoulders. Hens are almost white
and have a chocolate colored neck

The Pied pattern can occur in almost all varieties of peafowl. The term pied
refers to the fact that the bird is speckled with white spots and splotches.
Other than the white spotches, the bird is normally colored. This can be
found in both peacocks and peahens. Breeding beautiful pieds can be a
very difficult task and often many generation of selective breeding are
required to get a bird with white on its back and tail. Breeding a white bird
to a blue bird with usually produce a pied, but usually these first
generations only have a few small white spots on their wings. Many more
generations of white birds and good pieds are required to get exceptional
pieds. Because of these difficulties, a good pied is really a very valuable
and beautiful bird.

Silver Pieds are mostly white, males about 80 or 90 percent so, with some
blue, whereas blue pieds are mostly blue with some white. When young,
there might be some gray located on its neck and back, but this changes to
blue after a few years. On the males trains’ there are a few blue “eyes”
with white in their centers. Females are mostly white, with a few gray
patches and some gray tinting. When chicks hatch they are almost all white
with a gray or black spot on their heads.

the purple is rather new,and complex variety.Mature purple males look similar the thin India Blue
,except thier neck is more purple than blue.and their train resembles that of a cameo in coloration
with a dusty brown.thier eyes are not normal colored ,nor brownlike the cameo,but have varying
shades of purple in them.Hens are dk brown with purple on the necks.it takes careful and complex
breeding to produce these..

 White-eyed peacocks are a very special pied variety, with the "eyed"in
their name meaning their eyespots, not the actual eyes. In this type, the
peacock has all normal coloration except that his eyespots are white. This
variation is very hard to find and takes incredibly selective breeding to
produce.
