Peacekeepers

Pakistani soldiers have been popular for their service as UN Peacekeepers and pakistani units have often been involved in a number of serious and famous situations while on UN duty.
Remember the events which were also depicted in the movie “Black Hawk Down”?
And last year Indian and Pakistani units on UN duty helped each other tackle militia. It was discussed here in detail.

Today is the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers and nine Pakistani soldiers who fell while on UN duty are being remembered.
They were;

*“Sepoy Munir Ahmed (MONUC, Congo); Havaldar Bashir Ahmed (UNMIL, Liberia); Sepoy Mohammad Amir (ONUB, Burundi); Khatib Abdul Latif Chishti (UNMIL, Liberia); Lance Naik Sadaqat Hussain (UNMIL, Liberia); Naik Zaigham Hussain (MONU, Congo); Lance Naik Noor Jamal (MONUC, Congo); Lance Naik Inzar Ahmed Khan (ONUB, Burundi); and Sepoy Abdul Zafran (UNOCI, Cote d’Ivoire).”

“At a special ceremony in New York on 31 May, the Dag Hammarskjold Medal will be awarded posthumously to military, police and civilian personnel, both international and national staff, who lost their lives serving in the UN peacekeeping operations.”*

Re: Peacekeepers

It is time to quit being blue hat army. Time to join US coalition and green barrets.

UN peace keeping ops are run by a collection of bumbling idiots with the biggest bumbler at the top.

Look at Kashmir earthquake. UN didn't have a single chinook. Whereas US provided the most effective help by sending over so many big helicopters.

Time to switch peace keeping ops for the US instead of UN. That is where money, prestige, and the best weapons are to be had.
