Peace in the house

It is so important to have peace in the house. Whenever a family member comes back home from work or outside world, it is important to be mindful of that person’s need for peace and calm.
Things which can make a home look serene include relaxed atmosphere, cleanliness and happy mood of the rest of the family.
Parakeets, or other pets such as a kitten or a dog, or even a fish aquarium are great ways to have added nature inside the house. And pets as well as plants meantaking care of them, as just another member of the family as they all introduce life beyond one’s own self.
Depending on the space one has in the house, in door leaf plants are a very good fixture.
Dim lights in hallways and a sunroom even a balcony with flower beds will enliven the home. Nature -scenery paintings on the walls, family pictures in wood or metal frames on a corner table top or console will be great to include their presence in the home.
Of course different people have diff likes and dislikes when it comes to setting their living space, but symmetry and balance in color scheme as well as the functionality of all objects placed through-out the house/home will define the ability of the home environment as relaxing.

share if you like, how do you maintain peace in your house?

Re: Peace in the house

For me, different factors matter. Things that you mentioned are good such as Indoor plants, fish, parakeets. Keeping fish/parakeets definitely help me relax whenever I am tired. I just look at them and see how Allah is the best creator.

As for the home decoration, there are different things which can help you relax. Dim lights & calm paintings (with nice colors) can also be a plus. Another thing is that you don't want your walls to be of colors such as red. I have seen few houses with red walls which look nice with black furniture but for me, they don't help me when it comes to relaxing. And ofcourse the biggest thing is having Islamic environment in your house.

Re: Peace in the house

hum hein lajawab, thanks for reminding, i agree.

things which i feel as a necessity in an Islamic family's household include:

absolutely, cleanliness
Quranic ayaat in wooden and fabric wall hangings, simple decor, with not alot of/ no people or animal pictures or statues perhaps.
a prayer room
easy access to a sink right at the foyer area
shoes to be taken off at the enterance

lights on around maghrib
proper family meal times together
no loud multimedia or print which is indecent
it is understood, i hope by people that nothing tasteless or indecent should be in an Islamic house hold

what else, can you share some other things to have in Islamic household?
