PDAs

Sometimes I looking for a phone number at work and its at home in some addy book or vice versa. Also I forget things a lot, so I like to list 'em down. Like e-mail brother or do grocery before going home today .. stuff like that. And so I have a list of things to do, on a piece of paper all over my room … sometimes they make more mess than make me remember anything.

So … to get it all organized, I am thinking of buying a PDA.

Any suggestions?

I don’t want to spend too much but something that will get the work done. More so organizer with calendar & phone/address … and maybe a task list that I can check after getting done n’ stuff.

What other fun things can you do with a PDA?

Please list the price when giving out a model & it will be great if a picture is available too!

No one uses a PDA? :-/

Palm m125 PDA 199$
Busy, busy, busy. Your work takes you all over the globe and back. So you need something that can keep track of your appointments yet is portable and lightweight. That’s where the Palm m125 handheld organizer comes in. From a Palm OS 4.0 and 8MB built-in memory to Calendar, Appointment and To-Do List functions, this PDA can keep track of it all. Reminder alarms mean you’ll never miss another meeting again while the expansion slot means your needs will never exceed your organizer’s abilities.

I have been using a plam vx for sometime and find it fairly useful. I think my next PDA will be a windows based one like the Compaq.

It really depends on what you will be using it for. if it is just addresses and contact info you may want to get something less fancy which will do just that and cost you much less.

sprint has a new phone which has the plam and the phone in one, i believe its by samsung. the previous one by kyeocera was a bit chunky but this one is pretty cool.

go for BlackBerry

I kept a Windows CE (daddy of Pocket PC) for 2 years and even though it has great functionalities, my conclusion was that next time I will buy a Palm-based PDA (Palm, Handspring or Sony). Reason being, a PDA, due to its inherently small size, needs more simplicity than features, and Windows based Pocket PC's pack more than what that size should realistically take and therefore makes it more clumsy, confusing and high on resources.

If you go for Palm, Clie by Sony is high-end, and Handspring is cost-effective.

If you go for Pocket PC then Casseiopea is highly-rated and Compaq/HP is cost-effective.

Stay away from properitary systems like some of Casio's, Psion, Nokias etc. Stick with either Palm or Windows so you can have the advantage of a wide-variety of software readily available.

I bought for my brother HP Jornada (cost $160) which was color, had Pocket PC and he has been using it for 6 months. No complaints, whatsoever.

Most people in my office have Palm Vx or Palm VII. They are all very satisifed customers.

Myself, I guess I am too lazy to carry a cellphone and a PDA, so I just store all the contact info in my cell and my schedules in my head. Usually works reasonably well. If that fails, I'd start carrying my standard-issue pocket diary.

hmmmmmmm.. i dunno if the device by MOTOROLA, that blue one (originally an icq-containing cellular) fits into all the features that ahmadjee wants or not..but let me digup some info on it.. its on great price these days here in toronto ahmad :)
