PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan has summoned Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq and the head coach Waqar Younis to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday for a review of the team’s performances in Sri Lanka. Shaharyar will meet the team manager Moin Khan in Karachi on Wednesday. Pakistan lost the Test series 2-0 and the ODIs 2-1 to Sri Lanka, prompting concern from the board ahead of the 2015 World Cup.
ESPNcricinfo understands the meetings will be on a one-on-one basis. Misbah has Shaharyar’s backing for the captaincy ahead of series in the UAE against Australia and New Zealand, but the PCB could reduce the 10-man coaching staff. Moin’s dual role as manager and chief selector is also under scrutiny.
The pool of players that traveled to Sri Lanka remains the nucleus of the World Cup probables but the PCB is concerned about team unity, which according to one official, had deteriorated. With less than six months to go to the tournament, the PCB is reluctant to make major changes, and Moin had said Misbah would stay captain until the World Cup. However, ESPNcricinfo understands some players are not in favour of such a view.
The PCB persisted with Misbah as captain despite Pakistan being whitewashed 3-0 in South Africa in 2012-13, and performing poorly in the 2013 Champions Trophy in England. This was largely because of his prolific form in 2013, when he was the top-scorer in ODIs. However, he is 40 now, and his form has not been as good in 2014.
There has been speculation in the media that a lobby is trying to bring about a change in captain, with Shahid Afridi being proposed as the favourite. Afridi’s form, however, has been poor. He has been wicketless in his last six ODIsand his batting is unpredictable.
Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf was one of the voices advocating Afridi as captain. “If the captaincy remains with Misbah you can’t expect improvement in results,” Yousuf said. “He has been the captain for four years and has not been able to find a proper combination. I think it is imperative we have Afridi, who is aggressive and can lead in a better way.”

Re: PCB summons Misbah, Waqar for review

Misbah is too defensive. Hafeez fit only for domestic pitches. Afridi does rise to the occasion in one day I think. He can win you a match single handedly. I would remove Misbah, Hafeez and Younis. You got enough explosive batsmen. Need change in leadership.

Over emphasis on foundation building is Misbahs problem. Dot balls galore is never a good tactic.

(All obvious points. Nothing earth shattering).

Re: PCB summons Misbah, Waqar for review

Agree :k:
But i want to Sarfraz Ahmad as Captain who is captaining his side in FC , for long term purpose he can be asset for Team. Secondly he is in form and this thing will give him more confident. Bring Fawad Alam in Test squad. But I am really afraid that both players can be out from the team as well. Track record of Pakistani team is not good for accepting a junior player as Captain. Their Ego can hurt. I am afraid a defeat against Aussies will really hurt Misbah as his form is also not good. Lets see how he will perform against Aussies.
They need a coach like Miandad who learn them how to rotate strike and I remember when he was coach of Pakistan team even Afridi taking singles. But against politics in Team always hurt Pakistan.

Misbah-ul-Haq](http://www.espncricinfo.com/pakistan/content/player/41378.html),the Pakistan captain, has put his team’s below-par performance on last month’s tour to Sri Lanka downto a “lack of match practice”.

“Lack of cricketwas the big thing, the players did their best, they fought well,” Misbahsaid. “[But] our momentum got broken because of lack of cricket. There wasa big gap after Asia Cup [in March] and we didn’t have much match practice andthat’s why we looked out of sorts, we lacked match practice and we couldn’thandle it.”

Pakistan lost the Testseries 2-0 and the ODIs 2-1 to Sri Lanka, prompting concern from the boardahead of the 2015 World Cup. Subsequently, PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan had summoned](http://www.espncricinfo.com/pakistan/content/story/776897.html) Misbahand others from the team management for meetings.

Misbah, speaking afterhis meeting with Khan, said: “We talked about the future and how should weplan for the World Cup. We also talked about recent series and why ourperformance was so bad. Overall it was a good meeting.”

Misbah’s own form alsocame in for criticism during the tour, where he averaged 16.75 in the Tests and22.33 in the ODIs. He said while he understood his responsibility as one of thesenior batsman, he couldn’t afford to let the pressure get to him.

“If I takepressure it won’t solve the problem,” he said. “My contribution as abatsman was not there and it was a big factor, and I should do more work on mybasics and try to come back into form as soon as possible. When you play as asenior batsman in the team your contribution is very important, [but] pressureis always there in international cricket and if you think too much about it, itwon’t solve the problem.”

What are you guys talking about? They both deserve a raise. Our bowling is spearheaded by legendary Wahab watta Riaz and batting by one and only Ahmad tableeghi Shehzad. There's one one direction where Pakistan is heading...
