I would like to test the integrity of the integrity committee!! Do not know who was on that committee.
Expect him to be named ODI and/or T20 captain soon! I sincerely hope not.
ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Captain Shoaib Malik has been cleared of all charges by Pakistan Cricket Board’s Integrity Committee on Thursday and would be part of the Pakistani Squad for the forthcoming tour of Zimbabwe.
According to reliable resources, All-Rounder and Former Pakistan Captain Shoaib Malik satisfied the Integrity Committee in the previous hearing about 90,000 pounds deposited in one of his bank accounts and presented the details of their usage as well.
PCB Integrity Committee cleared Shoaib Malik and the official declaration would be made soon. He represented Pakistan in 32 Tests and 192 one-dayers.
Talking to the ONLINE, Sources said that Shoaib’s inductance in the squad was conditional and it was linked with PCB’s clearance.
Twenty-nine years old Shoaib Malik scored 2 centuries and 8 half-centuries in fifty four innings of 32 Tests and made 1606 runs whereas took 21 wickets giving out 1291 runs. In 192 One-Day Internationals, Shoaib Malik making 7 centuries, 31 half-centuries in 172 innings scored 5188 runs.
He made 636 runs in 32 T20 matches and grabbed 14 wickets. It is to be kept in mind that Shoaib Malik represented Pakistan in Test during England Series the previous year’s August whereas he was dropped from the one-dayer squad for Asia Cup played in Sri Lanka in June 2010.

Good decision, it will strengthen our middle order batting. As for oaths and groupings, well at least he wont stop other all rounders in the team from bowling their full quota of overs out of jealousy or ego.

Regardless of what some people say (pure imagination), there seems to be such a dearth of serious talent in the country that we keep going back to the same mediocre players and Shoaib Malik is not more than mediocre in my book. Either that or the system is totally corrupt and incompetent. About time guys like Mansoor Amjad who has been doing well at domestic level were given a chance at international level
Our current bowling is not more than average and the less said about the batting and fielding esp. catching the better. Till such time we find better pace bowlers than Gul and Wahab and most importantly until we sort out our pathetic batting (barring Misbah, Younis and Taufeeq to some extent), we will struggle to beat good sides consistently in tests

I think After Miandad we only got few test batsman and we wasted them too. Pakistan will never do good in test or ODI until we get some specialist test batsman. Currently we have one test batsman Younis khan and Azhar Ali can be 2nd one. Asim kamal :(.

GA, I disagree with several of your points, and here is why
-- Agree that Malik is no exceptionally talent batsman when you compare it with Lara, Ponting, Sachin or even second tier players like Inzi and Moyo, Mahela but when you compare him with players like Misbah, Younis, Hafeez and Afridi in situation that demands digging your heals in and fighting every inch of the way to take team to victory he is light years ahead of these players even with his mediocre talent and this is what has always made me admire Malik and I will take him over all 4 of them combined in a situation like Mohali or any other similar situation.
-- Also, what would happened to Mansoor amjad if he gets selected on a tour where either Misbah/Afridi are captain, Misbah sat out talent like UA when he was captain and afridi has tried to negatively affect careers of several young players under his captaincy like Hammad Azam , that left arm quickie in WI, Junaid in WC, Usman Salahudin in WI and that Lahore leggie (I think there was a dispute about his selection at one point under one of the afridi lead serieses). Because both Afridi/Misbah know that giving appropriate opportunities to these guys mean that either there development as cricketers would either lead to axing of afridi/misbah themselves or will lead selectors to drop the constantly tried/tested and failed seniors lik Younis/Hafeez/Razzak that people like afridi/misbah need in team to secure afridi/misbah’s chances of longer captaincy stints.

Its interesting that you have singled out every batsman except Misbah, Younis and Taufeek and called it pathetic, which means that Umar Akmal, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiz (who get consistent chances) are not good enough where as many believe that it’s the later three who have more of a back bone to fight for Pak in tough situation and put up big scores than the three names that you mentioned, one can guess that Misbah himself knows that and in order to keep opinion like yours floating among cricket followers he keeps UA either out of the squad (now several times under his captaincy Test series VS SA and NZ) or bats him too late down the order to a position where after 20-30 runs he has to bat with tail and he has to try to score quick runs sacrificing his wicket/talent in the process.
Re: PCB’s integrity committee clears Shoaib Malik of all charges
Azhar Ali has been impressive indeed but he is still very inexperienced at test level. Umar Akmal since that series in NZ/Aus in 2009/10 has done nothing of note. was extremely disappointing in England last year and then again against SA in UAE. He is talented for sure but he lacks test match temperament big time + is a bit reckless
And if you remember both Misbah and Younis performed well against South Africa and New Zealand last year. Younis saved a test against SA, which we could have lost otherwise, with his determined batting, his 4th fourth innings hundred. I know Taufeeq and Azhar have also been contributing with the bat.
Asad Shafiq has not had many chances in test matches yet....I will hold my judgment on him. I am hopeful he will deliver
Re: PCB’s integrity committee clears Shoaib Malik of all charges
It w'd be both unwise and unfair to thrust all the burden of batting upon the young shoulders of Umar, Azhar and Asad, however talented they maybe, at once. It must be a phased process
Re: PCB’s integrity committee clears Shoaib Malik of all charges
Lastly don't mind Shoaib Malik in the one-day side as a player but as a captain NO WAY!! He was never test material. I cannot remember many good test knocks by Malik apart from his hundred to save a test in SLA in 2005/6. **Younus on the otherhand has played several crucial knocks in the 3rd/4th innings and saved us from defeat
**Misbah is doing well in tests both as a batsman and captain, so no need to change that just yet. His age (37) should not be a factor, atleast not as long as he is performing in tests
