KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board Wednesday announced separate squads for next month’s two Tests and three one-day internationals in Sri Lanka.
The first Test starts in Galle from August 6 while the second Test is in Colombo from August 14. The three one-day internationals will be in Hambantota (August 23), Colombo (August 27) and Dambulla (August 30).
Test squad: Misbahul Haq (captain), Ahmed Shahzad, Khurram Manzoor, Shan Masood, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Rehman, Mohammad Talha, Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali, Wahab Riaz.
One-day squad: Misbahul Haq (captain), Ahmed Shahzad, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Younis Khan, Umar Akmal, Fawad Alam, Sohaib Maqsood, Shahid Afridi, Anwar Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Talha, Wahab Riaz, Zulfiqar Babar.
Fawad Alam should have been in the test squad as well. Good to see Hafeez dropped form the test squad. The pace attack is very ordinary apart from Junaid. Absence of Irfan and Umar Gul will be felt. Also Zulfiqar Babar should have been in the test squad. A much better bowler than Abdul Rehman.
I don’t agree with Younis Khan’s inclusion in the ODI squad. I think we’re taking a step backward, and the management needs to persist with players like Fawad Alam, Sohaib Maqsood and Sharjeel Khan. If I remember correctly, Younis Khan and Misbah were blamed for playing too slow in the last world cup against India. I don’t understand why we don’t invest in the players that are performing at the domestic level? Why do we keep going back to the tried and tested players?
when you see selection like this, you do feel what is the mental caliber of our selection committee?
why is fawad alam not in the test squad? i mean give me one reason? his average is above 50 in the first class cricket more than any other player in Pakistani squad..his style suits test matches as well. At lats incldue him in 15-men test squad
why is zulfi babar not in test matches?
last chance for you wahab riaz and rahat ali... I dont want to see both of you in the squad anymore if they dont perform this time.
zulfi babar is aged as well. Inconsistent performer.
They skipped nasir jamshed too. They keep insisting on the old/tired cows to play, those who have played for so long yet cannot win when time comes.
They take so much pressure on games against tough teams.
Here is a fact, if ANY team puts on 300 and Pak has to chase, 99% of the time Pakistan will not be able to chase. Just too much pressure for these well-paid but tired and selfish players
