I cannot help to notice on how badly managed PCB is. We have the most pathetic non-professional leadership at the helm. It is in times of crisis that we get to see the true colors of the leadership. As expected the idiots of PCB failed miserably.
Shehreyar Khan is a disgrace. All he can do is speak King’s English and smoke cigars. The guy is the biggest bureaucrat and we all know how useless these types are. He is also the biggest suck up we had at the job. One of the many gifts of Musharraf to Pakistan is this clown.
Our marketing director is an old buddy of Mr. Khan and just by looking at him you can guess how compotent he is. I don’t recall him bringing any lucrative marketing contracts for the Pak team. The only thing he has brought is his wife with him to see the match in England. I will not bet money that he paid for her trip.
Zaheer Abbas is a HUGE disappointment. It is one thing to get your wife to write articles in Dawn on a weekly basis (there is no way he can compose such well written articles in English) and another to manage a team as a team manager for such an important tour. The guy seems to have no idea what he is doing. He is the first to criticize all and sundry but now we know what his true worth is. His contribution is ZERO
Our chairman says one thing, manager another and coach yet another. Now we can add the legal agency to the mix and what you have is a cocktail gone bad. We seem to have multiple spokepersons who are all saying different things.
On the fourth day of the test we had a room full of officials yet nobody could advise Inzi properly. What the hell were they doing for an hour and a half after the accusation was made and Inzi kept playing? Should they not have come up with some options and tabled them to Inzi during the tea interval. What type of PAINDOOS are these idiots? I hire and fire people at work all the time. If i had even one of these clowns reporting to me i would have fired his arse to Mars long time ago, but then i would not have hired anyone of these losers to begin with.
We need professionals to run the show and not this motley crew of incompotent freeloaders. I am so upset at their mismanagement that i felt like penting my frustration thru this thread.
Is it just me or you guys are furious as well with our beloved PCB ?
Agreed...... My biggest disappointment is Zaheer Abbas.......... It seems all former players are great with analysis and with picking faults but when it comes to doing a job they all fail. Behavior of Javed and Amir on GEO to me has been disgraceful
PCB should have filed a complaint against Hair: Ehsan Mani
WASHINGTON, Aug 23: Pakistan Cricket Board chief Shaharyar M. Khan did not bother to register a written protest against umpire Darrell Hair during the England series in Pakistan last year despite an advice to this effect from former ICC president Ehsan Mani, it was revealed on Wednesday.
In an exclusive interview with the Voice of America, the former president of the ICC said: “It was during England’s tour of Pakistan last year when Darrell Hair was involved in a run out incident against Inzamam and I, as president of the ICC, advised Shaharyar to register a formal and proper written complaint to ICC against the Australian umpire so that I could ensure that he did not supervise Pakistan’s future matches. But neither Shaharyar nor any one else from the PCB ever made any written complaint and as ICC president, I could not take any action unilaterally.”
Mani repented that matters in The Oval Test were not handled properly and that resulted in creating a fiasco.
“Inzamam should have known the rules and should have challenged umpire Hair on the field rather than deciding not to go on the field in protest after tea session,” Mani said.
“In my opinion PCB and team officials handled things in wrong and most unappropriate manner that led to things getting out of control.”
Mani also pointed out that Pakistan lost the battle on another front as well when ICC issued the press release saying that “Subsequent to the umpires’ decision to award the match to England, a series of meetings took place to try and arrive at a situation that was in the best interests of the match.
“Following these meetings the umpires decided that, having made the decision to award the match to England, to change that decision would not be in keeping with the Laws of Cricket. The ICC backs the umpires’ decision of the umpires.” This statement, said Mani, indicated that PCB has accepted the umpires decision and now it was difficult for PCB to plead its case.”—Agencies
Notice how the attention is slowly being diverted away from the fact that it was Hair who initiated this... but now they're tryign to show that the incompetent management is what's to blame.
No doubt they're idiots (pcb), and regardless of how poorly they handled this situation, the same should be said about the ecb (for public relations reasons) and the icc (for its match referee who apparently persuaded pakistan to come out AFTER hair had made his decision).
PCB is letting a winnable case slip away. Ball tampering allegation is very serious to Pakistanis and if we win this, we can take some solace because previously our players accused wrongly and there was no proof and apology. The only person I trust in this matter is a gora lawyer
If after such a dark incident ICC has said that they will not bow to Pakistan demand of 'no Hair' then why would a relatively weaker complaint make any difference?
It would have made a huge difference. The only reason why ICC have completely declined Pakistan's demands of 'no Hair' is perhaps attached to the fact that PCB utterly failed to act upon the advise issued by Mani late last year. That was the time when we had the cat in the bag, and if we would have grabbed the opportunity at that instant with both hands, the situation would never have resulted in this disaster. We have now let the cat slip away which has formed into this national tragedy.
I think what ICC is saying regarding not bowing to a board is correct, since they can't go for officials that one country like or dislike but if (as Mani said) pakistan was lodging a complaint supported with concrete proof, I am sure Sunil & Speed would have considered facts before appionting Hair to Pakistan matches, and would have felt more guilty at this situation and thus more sympathetic to Pakistan.
I totally agree ICC can't be dictated by individual boards but serious and authentic reservation of a board could force ICC to avoid an official and if more than one board (SL and IND along with PAK) complaint about an official then I don't see any logical reason for keeping such individual on any panel even if it is of minor league.

YES!
We should be thoroughly disappointed with the management in this case. They had plenty of time to discuss all the options, consult the rule-book, and offer a multiple choice of options to Inzimam alongwith all the implications, so he could make an "informed decision."
Furthermore, knowing Inzimam's communication skills (it's not a swipe at him, he is likely to not understand a lot of things umpires might be telling him) ZAHEER ABBAS should have stepped up (that's what team 'Managers' are for) and helped Inzimam talk to Hair when he came to our dressing room, or at least keep a communication channel open with the umpires and the referees so that no misunderstandings occurred.
I think they should have used the time before tea, to discuss all the options, tear a dark green shirt into 11 bands, and then offer INzimam the option of going back on field with each player wearing a dark (green) bank on his arm and the dressing room issuing a protest statement.
I can imagine how chaotic our dressing room must have been with all these cooks in the kitchen and no one strong enough to take charge. It might have been the chaos in the dressing room rather than chaos in the field that prompted Woolmer to think about resignation.
Totally Agreed. He is one of the best crickters but that doesn't make him a good manager. His management skills are zero. But same is the case with PCB chairman. what is he doing??.
I guess, all the upper mgmt of PCB needs to be fired.
I would rather see Ramiz Raja as team manager. His communication and mgmt skills seem to be much better than others.
But whats the point of discussing here - PCB doesn't care what PK people think and wish to do. I am sure at this point Inzamam and the team must be thinking the same thing - when they needed help from PCB - they never received it. They were and still are completely left alone. Just making stupid statements don't make a difference. up till now, PCB is only making useless statements.
