PC-to-PC calls...can the quality be better?

Hi, I used skype to talk to my parents with the Video funciton and it used to be great, lately the sound quality sucks, loads of dropped sounds on both sides, cutting out etc. Is this Skype? Is there another better program out there?

this can also be due to less bandwidth availability either on your end or your parent's. this leads to high latency and results in dropped video frames and sound packets. try to change the settings to low quality video etc. this may help.

i found yahoo not that great. how can you tell it's on their end? We're both hearing dropped calls

I was assuming that your caller is in Pakistan where they don't have broadband or something like that whereas you do.

i used to use these…but now i prefer $2.50 calling card…cheaper n u dont have to use like walkie talkie

forget calling cards, there are long distance lines which you can sign up with and cheap.

I heard calling from Pakistan is now only Rs 2.50 per minute all day/night.

My parents are in the USA, i'm in the UAE. state controlled phone means it costs about 50-60 cents a minute to call the US, i think the lowest from the US we found is 30 cents. There are no phone cards here..and skype is banned PC to phone. (Don't get me started)

My parents like seeing their grand child daily if they can so a 15-30 min PC call with video is nice....but if done by normal phone too expensive.

I'll see if i can reduce video quality or just see how sound is if there is no video.
