I am generally a firm believer that spending money on lingerie, shoes and winter coats is always justifiable.
Regardless of how much; with the caveat that you should get good use out of such purchases, which with those three things you usually do.
BUT
Recently I’m getting a bit tired of paying such hefty prices for lingerie. On top of that my recent dressmaking has given me a mentality of “I could make that” to almost everything I see, EVEN THOUGH I’m a bloody novice.
I say hefty because though in singledom, La Senza sufficed, being married has made me get much prettier things a la Damaris/Mimi Holliday and Agent Provocateur. If I had the cash to blow I’d be buying from Bordelle or Strumpet and Pink.
I’m starting to think this is slightly insane… and yet, until I become seamstress extraordinaire, I don’t see things changing. I’m planning on asking the guy on what he thinks about the difference between the brands, etc AFTER our anniversary (DEC). Maybe he’ll cure me.
I think if you are not spending out of your means then its all ok. I would ever buy anything I didnt have the money to pay for. I only use my credit card for online purchases (thanks to online fraud ) but it gets paid automatically from my debit account which is always in credit. I hate owing anyone money…expecially the evil banks.
As long as your knickers don’t get you into debt…spend away!
Like MIlly said, if you can afford it, then why not. But maybe keep a limit on it or only buy during sales and stock up for the year or something like that.
