and rather than enjoy i am in dread before i collect the check b/c i am just hoping there wil be a check, with the right amount in it. :halo:

Itâs so seamless and habitual now that I only notice if something doesnât add up at the end of the month when I check the bill payments which again for the most part are preauthorized⌠I donât even bother opening up the emails with the electronic paystubs anymore.
In contrast, when I do consulting work every now and then, I really feel good when I get a meaty cheque for a retainer.
Even in US my company pays monthly not biweekly or weekly.

I use to get exited submitting invoice when I was contracting.

I am a salaried professional, and my payday is the 15th of the month and the end of the month. If the 15th or the 30th/31st/28th is a holiday, then the check is deposited directly into my bank account a day before the actual pay day. I get a text message when the direct deposit is posted to my account.
The thread is not about how and when you get paid.
It is about how you feel , do you treat yourself or family on pay day etc etc. Now wakeup and share your thought.

I indirectly gave the answer :D but a guess a direct answer would be that I really don't care much and I don't get excited. I don't treat myself. However, as soon as my paycheck comes in on the first, I pay off my bills and rent, so all that money leaves my bank by the 3rd or the 4th :D

Some companies do not start deducting taxes till you get your third paycheck. So that is real shocker. It happened to me. I had adjusted my lifestyle accordingly and then there was this bombshell.
Thank God no taxes in Dubai u get to keep it all! And yayy to freelancing, no cheques, upright cash!

well most ppl dont get cheques anyways its mostly direct deposit, money just appears in your acct :D

I remember the first time I got a bonus...the original amount was awesome and the actual check was close to half that! I was so furious!!! I thought there was something wrong with it so actually went to HR and they laughed and told me "thats Uncle Sam for ya sweetie"!!!

Ufffffffffffffffffffffff, I can so relate to that. I was so psyhed about my bonus first time I got it. But I did not get all of it, so I also had to talk to HR and they told me the same thing.

actually US has this treaty with Pak according to which F1 people dont pay big chunk of texes from their jobs, so i enjoyed it for years in school but outside the school, when i started working and saw amount after deductable, i was like waooo...it was pretty bad..specially after seeing the sign on bonus going from $$$$$$ to $$$ it was pretty disappointing...i was like there goes my LCD TV
A friend of mine lost about 15K $ in one paycheck as his work was paying him at end of year for his services from past year.
