Paul Bernardo to marry

Don’t know how many people are familiar with Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, and the various rapes and murders the couple did. It was a pretty big trial, and Bernardo is behind bars not for the protection of the people, but for his own protection, because his fellow inmates hate him. And yet, there is a woman out there who thinks he’s “innocent” and want to marry him :smack:

**Schoolgirl sex killer Paul Bernardo is serving an indeterminate prison sentence, but his bride-to-be reportedly thinks he is innocent**

Sex killer Paul Bernardo is serving an indeterminate sentence for the slayings of two schoolgirls, a dozen rapes and more than two dozen other sex offenses — but there are still women who reportedly want to marry him.

The latest is reported to be a 30-year-old university graduate from London, Ont., who began corresponding with him last fall, according to QMI news agency.

Corrections Canada declines to comment on individual cases.

Tim Danson, a lawyer for the families of murdered schoolgirls has plenty to say.

“He should not be given any privileges,” Danson told the Star on Thursday.

According to the QMI report, the couple first met last fall after she wrote him.

The QMI report says that his fiancée believes he is innocent even though he made videos of his victims in captivity.

“He has convinced her that he didn’t do this (rapes or murders),” her father told QMI.

Should criminals like him even be allowed to reach out to the public? Because she was able to write to him, he was able to convince her that he’s innocent, when there is proof of his committing his crimes. Do criminals like him (absolutely proven of multiple crimes), be given all the rights?

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

^ Given that Karla who killed her own sister earned a degree at taxpayer’s expense and is now a married mother of three - well, that tells you how lax our criminal justice system is and the crazies out there who will do anything in the name of love, including marrying a sister-killer.

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

Exactly. Wasn’t her excuse that he was so charming I did what he said. Well if another person is saying he’s able to charm people to committ heinous crimes, shouldn’t this have been a sign or a signal that umm maybe we shouldn’t let this guy talk to anyone outside, especially women

:smack:

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

The crimes they did. So disturbing! shudders

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

Definitely not. Does Canada have death penalty anywhere? He deserves it.

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

His fiance, doesn’t she read the newspaper or watch TV? How could she still believe he’s innocent. It’s so baffling to me!

Don’t think so. That’s why he’s got a life imprisonment sentence.

Do you guys think she’s been charmed by his lies that’s why she believes he’s innocent, or is she just naive, or desperate, or is she secretly like him and therefore they’re a good match?

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

Love is blind so she will not see what she doesn’t want to

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

Canadians are too nice for that.

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

Are you seriously buying into her BS? She stole the drugs from her workplace, drugged her own sister and watched her bf rape and kill her. No matter how blinded you are with love, you don’t do things like this to your family. This is sadism, pure and simple.

I am not sure. Why would she even write to an inmate in the first place?
She must be aware of it all otherwise how would she know he existed and where he is at the moment.
Maybe she is a psycho like him…who knows!

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

In that case, I apologize.

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

The article I posted mentions a couple of women who have written to him did it because they were fascinated by his crimes. Are you serious? Kuj hor nai milya say fascination day liye? :smack: I was listening to a radio talk show earlier and they invited a psychiatrist to speak and he said that in general there are some women who think only they can understand the criminal, and the professionals cant’ at all. If it was a petty criminal who does graffiti I’d understand, but what is there to understand in a sociopath?

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

Something attracts the psycho ladies.

We have a case like this too with Peter Lundin. A lot of women want to marry him  - I think one actually did marry him.

Meet an Inmate dot com. :\

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

:smack: That’s like volunteering to be cannibalized, like that one guy did over the internet.

Don’t even joke. Maybe a website like this already exists!

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

:hehe: maybe it turns them on :aaho:

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

The laws as written should be respected. And should not be changed unless there is a compelling reason.

For every such case of corresponding with such a criminal resulting in marriage, there probably are multiple cases where inmates receive a kind letter or two that reminds them they are human beings. And not just convicts. A step towards rehabilitation.

Re: Paul Bernardo to marry

Paul Bernardo is a good manipulator and that’s what he’s done with this stupid girl. I can’t even fathom how a 30 year old grad student would willingly get into a relationship with a Psychopath but … there are some women out there with very low self-esteem and extremely low standards. I just hope her family knocks some sense into her before she goes through with it. As for Karla Homolka, her entire family is quite questionable and her upbringing… She’s such a vile woman I can’t even bring to words… destroying the lives of her sister and two other young girls and then going on to lead a normal life.. wow. I don’t even know how the state allowed her to have children and are not concerned.. and don’t get me started on what kind of a man actually wanted her as a wife and mother to his children. (She’s married to her lawyer’s brother BTW).

The thing with Canada’s judicial system is, the death penalty was revoked many years ago after an innocent man was killed for a crime he never committed. And despite popular belief, the death penalty will actually cost tax payers MORE money than life sentences due to the fact that criminals can keep requesting appeals which only delay the process and cost a lot of money. So in terms of tax payers money - life sentences are more cost effective. Yes people like this who are guilty without a shadow of a doubt (he taped the rapes, etc) should be dealt with accordingly.. but then I have to think where our society is headed if we act like the perpetrator ourselves. In the end , there is only one judge.. and these two will get what’s coming to them.
