Pathetic performance

I don’t understand how people on this board are NOT upset the way we lost today. Yay we won a series! Don’t get me wrong, had someone told me prior to the series that we would win 2-1, i would of gladly taken that result.
It’s not winning 2-1 instead of 3-0 is what’s bothering me but how we freaking lost. I still remember reading posts on this forum when we lost to India in the world cup. Everybody (well at least most) was like hey, India is a stronger team and this/that and we should be proud to being 4th haha. That’s no excuse to accept defeat happily, when victory should of being ours. India that day didn’t win because they were better, they won because we choked!!!

I guess when we set exceptions so low, hard to achieve greatness. Okay, i will admit one thing and that is i don’t know how much influence captain has over how the whole team approaching a target. I know in NBA/NHL/NFL etc coach has a huge influence on how the game is played. Team mindset is just too negative when we bat. I don’t know if it’s because of Misbah or what but same thing happened in the world cup. Now I personally believe leader has to be mentally stronger than Misbah for team to have success in a long run. You just cannot win many matches by being defensive. I’m not a fan of Australia, one thing that made them great was there positive approach. If Australia were chasing this target, they would of being more aggressive in their approach regardless of end result. And i don’t mean aggressive approach that idiot Afridi has 9 out of 10 games.

Isn’t it time for Misbah to step aside and let Hafeez take over?? I’m glad Afridi is out. There are still people on this board who don’t think Misbah was one of the main reasons why we lost today. Care to share your train-of-thought? The man at times didn’t even look to score. It’s like you could just feel it that he will just stop the ball regardless of where it’s pitched. Umar akmal is another reason why we lost. I’m probably going to be little biased because i really do think he is a talented player and i like his attracting (no slogging) approach. He is just a freaking moron. We struck around afridi for so long and he never matured and i wonder if U.Akmal ever will? Well, at least when he goes out to bat, i’m fairly confident that he wouldn’t get out in 3-4 deliveries unlike Afridi. So, does Mishab has influence on other players, when it comes to how to approach a target?

Re: Pathetic performance

It had nothing to do with Misbah being a bad/good leader. We had to lose this one, or our team wouldn't have made it out of India alive. Pakistani team mobbed. Pakistan launches an offensive on India. Nuclear war. Sounds great doesn't it. Stop whining. 2-1 is great.

Re: Pathetic performance

Stop whining. 2-1 is great.

i guess not be able to chase 167 by playing 49 overs is just amazing

Re: Pathetic performance

You just ignored the getting mobbed possibility.

Re: Pathetic performance

it is not called whining...it is called post match discussion...he is reasonable in his post

Re: Pathetic performance

we need attacking batsman in middle order as stated before, malik, younis , misbah , all fall in same category.

Re: Pathetic performance

There is a thing called common sense. Try thinking about this, the team was probably given strict orders to throw this one to avert possible violence.

Re: Pathetic performance

Jeez, you cannot always win win win. You win some you lose some. Our batting was poor today but did we not restrict the super amazing batting line-up to 43 overs and 167 runs as well? That's pretty amazing, these were world champions we were playing against and we destroyed them more than once in this series. So to disregard all of that and say yeah yeah we won the series so what, still pathetic performance... that's not reasonable, that's just harsh.

Re: Pathetic performance

You have good days and you have bad days then you have bad Pakistani days. Today was bad Pakistani day. Simple. :)

Re: Pathetic performance

Finishing them at 43 was just a way to tell them, "We could've won this, but we'll let you take it cause we love our lives."

Re: Pathetic performance

Ridiculous.

Not really, I think it was India's good day more than Pakistan's bad day. India's fielding and bowling plan was top notch, hardly any bad ball, they choked the runs in circle fielding piling pressure while the bowlers were very disciplined.

Re: Pathetic performance

TUK TUK

Re: Pathetic performance

all Indian power-house, every Pakistani batsmen played slow, so why point out only one?

Re: Pathetic performance

When did I named someone? :afridi:

Or Did I :yk:

Re: Pathetic performance

I agree with you.

It was a rather disgusting performance. Regardless of winning 2-1. You'd never see the Aussies think 'ahh heck, let them win, we've won the series' More like 'lets destroy these guys' and they did this consistency for a number of years.

This mentality of already winning the series and not caring for the final and last match is weak mindedness and goes against the spirit of the game. Which is always to play your best and always be competitive.

Now, losing from an extremely strong position. A position of 113-3 to getting all out by 157 is pathetic.

Re: Pathetic performance

yes you did, the only one who is associated with ‘tuk tuk’ phrase.

Re: Pathetic performance

that is what hurts…no matter how good indian bowling or fielding was, we were already 113/3..needed 54 runs on 105 balls…7 wickets in hand…how can you lose…well guess what we just did…:smack: now call it a bad day, a good day, hota hai, blah blah whatever you want to call it..but we shd have won from this position…we are the worst run chasers..by the way this new munda jamshed…he looks a bit lost (facial impression) but he has strong nerves…we need one or 2 more like him…otherwise we cannot even chase 120…

Re: Pathetic performance

One match lost and everyone is up in arms regarding the “pathetic” performance, we cant chase and blah and blah, and than we make fun of Indian media going overboard when they lose. We out do them every time. On top of it no one has mentioned that with Hafeez getting injured Kamran had to open and him getting out early put pressure on the middle order and also Hafeez came late to bat. Who knows what would have happened if hafeez hadn’t got injured and had opened. I suppose the match fixing brigade will come and tell us that hafeez got injured intentionally in order to throw the match.

It wasn't a pathetic performance considering the weather and pitch conditions, however, I was throughly disappointed the way Umar Akmal threw his wicket away. He again showed that despite having enormous talent, he is not a world class player.

Re: Pathetic performance

**Well,
Pakistan won the series right..? I am sure we'd remember the first two matches that Pakistan won and in what manner..

I am not sure but I think India won the match, more than Pakistan lost it. I am not sure what the fuss is all about. Pakistan was the better team, hence they won the series 2-1.. If I were to choose between the two teams as of now, I'd still choose Pakistan to win the match. They Guys had an off day, we are bound to have one.

G'day**
