PATH TO SUCCESS IS ACQUIRING ISLAMIC KNOWLEDGE AND IMPLEMENTING IT

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, to Him belong the endowments and proper commendations. May Allah increase the honor of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, raise his rank, and protect his nation from what he fears for it. Thereafter;

Brothers and Sisters,

The only safe and secure way out of this life to a peaceful everlasting life is through Islam. However, a Muslim could fall into what invalidates Islam without him knowing that (which is apostasy or Kufur, may Allah protect us). Ignorance is NOT and execuse, Learning is an obligation.

Allah, the Exalted, praised the status of knowledge in Surat Mujadilah, Ayah 11:
which means: [Allah raises the ranks of those amongst you who believed and acquired the knowledge.]

Moreover, Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, to praise the status of knowledge, its teachers and its students. Ibn Majah related the Prophet said: <<O Aba Dhar, if you go and learn one verse of the Qur’an it will be more rewardable for you than praying one hundred rak^ahs of the optional prayers; and if you go and learn a chapter of the knowledge, it is more rewardable for you than praying one thousand rak^ahs of the optional prayers.>> Al-Bukhariyy related the Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said:

<<When the [Muslim] son of Adam dies, his deeds stop except for three: a charity resulting in a continuing benefit, a knowledge benefitting others, and a pious offspring making supplication to Allah for him.>>

The truth of Islam must be accepted and the Obligatory Knowledge of Islam must be acquired and taken if it is from reliable, trustworthy, Islamic sources–regardless of whether the teacher is young or old, male or female, rich or poor, black or white, Arab or American or African or Indian or Chinese or Spanish or of any other origin.

Learning the Obligatory Knowledge of the Religion puts the Muslim on the road for excellence and self-betterment.

Well, With knowledge, the Muslim differentiates between what is lawful and what is not, and what is an acceptable, valid worship and what is not. What differentiates one Muslim from another is the amount of Islamic knowledge one attains and applies within one's own life. "The Essentials of Belief" is an insight into the Religion of Islam. Believing and uttering 'No one is God except Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah' is the most important thing any person can do and it is a condition for the acceptance of the good deeds. The one who becomes Muslim and stays Muslim will have the enjoyment of Paradise without end in the Hereafter and the one who rejects Islam will suffer the torture of Hellfire without end in the Hereafter. It is certain that death will come to all of us.

The one who is prepared for the Day of Judgment is the one who knows, accepts, and applies the essentials of belief, and implements the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, in all sincerity to Allah, the Exalted.

May Allah help us in striving in seeking knowledge with a true desire to please Him subhana wa ta’ala and ONLY Him. May Allah keep us pure in our intentions. May Allah azza wa jal keep our actions consistent with what we learn. Ameen.

A man came to Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu and said “I desire to learn the knowledge but I fear that I may waste it.” So abu hurairah said to him, “Your abandonment of learning it is sufficient in wasting it.” [Tafseeru-s-Sa’dee 5/194]

For this reason one of the wise people, when asked “What is the way by which knowledge is obtained?” answered-- “With eagerness is it FOLLOWED, with love is it LISTENED TO, with sole concern is it GATHERED. Teach your knowledge to the one who is ignorant, and learn from the one who teaches, for if you do that, you will come to know that of which you were ignorant and you will memorize that which you yourself have learned.” [Jaami’ Bayanul ilm wa Fadlihi by Ibn Abdi-l-Barr 1/102-103]
