and its proven to be a vital reason behind their current state.

In 1937 the Congress Party came into power to govern India. Mahtama Gandhi advised his elected members and leaders to adopt simplicity in life. Following are the words of Gandhi:

“I can not give you the reference of Ram Chandar or Krishna, because they were not historical figures. I can not help it but to present to you the names of Abu Bakar (rad) and Umar (rad). They were leaders of a vast Empire, yet they lived a life of austerity.” (27-07-1937 Hari-ji)

We all know who did the naaraebaazi only and who actually implemented it from day one and enjoying the prosperity.

Indian independence leaders also got a chance to rule the country (nehru ruled for a decade) while the least said the better about our governor generals and presidents in the fifities.

Re: Path that two countries took after independence

nobody in India cares about Gandhian teachings anymore. once in a rare bluemoon you get these people like Anna Hazare who are proud to still live by Gandhian ways (they will hasten to add their Gandhi is the Mahatma M.K.G and not the Sonia Gandhi band of international crooks)
