I don't exactly know about this, but celebrating basant and kite flying goes back to pre-Muslim era in India

They turned to some other business cz Patang baazi was also not a full time business it was a seasonal one so people involved in such businesses were already doing some other businesses as well so

Even people can't fly kites with normal daur? I think Mulla lobby also played a role in that. They always called it unislamic
