Pat Robertson is the “prayer offensive” with the goal of knocking out 3 justices of the U.S. Supreme Court who he doesn’t agree with.
Robertson in the past has said Islam is not a peaceful religion.
In other news, rumors of an underground organization preparing a counterstrike prayer against Pat Robertson followed by pre-emptive prayer strikes on the likes of Jerry Farwell are unconfirmed.
…
VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia (AP) – Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson urged his nationwide audience Monday to pray for God to remove three justices from the Supreme Court so they could be replaced by conservatives.
“We ask for miracles in regard to the Supreme Court,” Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s “The 700 Club.”
Robertson has launched a 21-day “prayer offensive” directed at the Supreme Court in the wake of its 6-3 June vote that decriminalized sodomy (you can no longer be arrested for sexual activites you do in the privacy of your own home, this upset Robertson)) ( Robertson said in a letter on the CBN Web site that the ruling “has opened the door to homosexual marriage, bigamy, legalized prostitution and even incest.”
The same letter targets three justices in particular: “One justice is 83-years-old, another has cancer and another has a heart condition. Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire?”
Judging from the descriptions, Robertson was referring to Justice John Paul Stevens, who was born in 1920, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had colon cancer surgery in 1999. The identity of the third justice was unclear
Would it not be possible for God to put it in the mind of Pat Robertson that the time has come to retire? I urge everyone to start a prayer offensive to remove this wacko from preaching hate and intolerance in the guise of religion.
Pat Robertson is sure mellowing out in his Golden Years. In his prime he probably would have asked everyone to pray that these three justices die. Now he just wants "God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire." If God were inclined to impose mandatory retirement on his flock, wouldn't Pat be at the top of the list?
You know at the end of the day, I find these guys pretty amusing. I used to travel to North Carolina a lot, and he and Rush Limbaugh were icons to most who live down there. Try driving through South Carolina sometime, and listen to AM radio. There are more preachers with radio licenses, and these guys can go ALL DAY! They make Pat Robertson look virtually mainstream.
In the end, Pat is entitled to his political and religious views. Out there? Sure, but compared to the segregationists of the 60's, these guys are pretty mellow. Pat has not espoused anything violent, and he does represent a segment of American society.
I have been reading a lot about the founding of America, and the founding fathers. To each one of them, the freedom of religion was simply a given in the formation of the country. Slavery was a much more critical issue. Virtually all of the founding fathers remembered that only a few generations past a great number of Americans fled for their lives based on religious persecution. Part of Religious Freedom is tolerance. We may hate Pat, disagree with what he says, and speak against him. But I suport his right to speak his mind....
I believe Christian fundamentalist and Jesus lover are mutually exclusive terms. I believe people like Pat Robertson fundamentally misunderstand the message of Jesus.

agreed, but if we can support the rights of rappers and rockers to state their mind but put "parental advisory" stickers on their cds and ratings for movies, we could probably do the same for other areas.
..or not do it at all, this selective censorship is a bit lame.
